Yep, I saw a 'Noni for $1350+taxes, so that is pretty much $1500.....

Tuz, what is your new yellow bike? The seat cluster looks interesting...

TRaffic Jammer 10-15-08 12:25 PM

 I was about to add that you Jet, most likely do scare the poop outta yourself on the cruiser.

tuz 10-15-08 02:03 PM

Hey Jet, it's a Gios Compact. Cool details of construction and interesting geometry (it's... well compact: steep angles and short chainstays/wheelbase. We'll see how it handles)

Here's the seat cluster :p

and those weird dropouts

*rubs self* magic words those .... steep and short

Take it easy on that bike. My buddy had the same frame, used it only as his "Sunday" bike...and busted the drop-out off. He still has it if you ever need spare bolts.

Speaking of which.. my friend Tom's new build: http://www.flickr.com/photos/negativ...7607650635241/

It actually started life as a road frame, but he had it modded with brazed-on canti bosses, custom paint+decals, internal cable routing, and a bling build.

Oh... at least I hope only the dropout broke instead of the frame. Perhaps the only advantage of this silly contraption. Thanks :)

It's Polly and the house brand he wants to start up are the Zombie frames that are on CL everynow and again. I bought a Flyer from him a few weeks ago and he was telling me about it.

kylehutton 10-15-08 04:03 PM

does anyone have an 18t cog they'd be willing to trade for a 15t?

paul_in_toronto 10-15-08 04:15 PM

Polly speaks.....

Never mind the brand launch thingy
thats in the can for now.

-I have got numerous emails from people wanting a bike race, Ive asked around I dont know of anyone else planning an alley cat race.. however if there is then I could just point those people at that event

Is there some secret alley cat race? Have I BROKEN some code by asking?? ha ha ha.. give me a break..

-Frame group buy thing. I have a line on some frames, they would look more like classical road-track style
not sloping compact style. They would come with a fork. I could get a good range of sizes, but probably only one perhaps 2 color choices. They would have a warranty, probably life time.
The only draw back is paying up front and the wait.

What else about them..hmm track dropouts or rather fork ends, 1 1/8 threadless fork, drilled for brake front and back, reynolds steel..

i'd be interested in a frame/fork for $150

Yeah I'd probably be interested too. I responded to the CL ad before I saw your post here too Polly, and am keen on the race idea too - I think there's an event on Hallowe'en but forget where I saw the details, might've been a Bike Pirates one on Facebook.

Saw a Steelwool on the road in Ottawa, went and had a brief chat with the dude who looked at me like I grew an extra head when I commented on the eccentric BB he had, heh - I guess a non-bikey dressed person asking about a bike isn't the norm :p

Flimflam 10-15-08 06:07 PM

Pake track frameset on CL with a Deep V wheelset sold seperately (so the ad reads)

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/880829088.html

Looks nice, I'm not a deep-V fan, but the bike... mhmmm

haha mansey selling his bike. he's a friend, but he's been in an awful lot of mishaps on that bike. i'd look over it carefully (not that i think there's anything wrong with it, but you know...).

Rode out to Guelph today to check out Backpeddling. Its a must see / treasure chest.
They deal with TONS of used stuff. Was able to get some fun stuff just in time for winter.

jasonmansey 10-15-08 10:36 PM

sorry if I came off sounding like a jerk. putting the words alleycat and brand launch party next to each other followed by vague details of a group buy sounded fishy, that's all. that being said, now that you've provided more detail I'd also be interested in checking out a frame & fork @ $150. also, i haven't been in a race since "look ma no brakes" so i'm looking forward to it.

'til then I'll try to stay positive.:thumb:

That's a good shot but today there are a lot of photoshops circulating from this classic moment from last night's debate:

I almost feel bad for him....

 Oh man the potential meter is high on that one.

TRaffic Jammer 10-16-08 09:07 AM

 what the hell possessed him to make that face?

2wheelsgood 10-16-08 09:21 AM

perhaps he had just listened to a recording of himself.

TRaffic Jammer 10-16-08 09:23 AM

can't fix this damage, no way, no how.... just another nail ,in the coffin

tuz 10-16-08 09:41 AM

oh my...
I'd like to see more. Link?

paul_in_toronto 10-16-08 12:33 PM

Hmm.. theres a great picture of Harper with a Kitty cat.

Ok so updates

I can do the frames at $179.99 cash, debit card $185, credit card $189.99.

They would be REYNOLDS 520
50cm 53cm 55cm 57cm 59cm

This is a one shot deal. Also there may be other REYNOLDS frames too.. a road frame, a touring frame with discs.. etc.. probably same price.
I wish I could do $150 but not possible. But a reynolds frame with Fork for $179.99 seems like a no brainer to me
includes lifetime warranty. Color choice black.

Ill be posting a pic of the frame as a bike on craigs.. I have ridden one of these built up and they compare to my zombie frames ride quality wise or like a bianchi pista etc.. You can put alot of miles on one and then want to put a bunch more, an addictive ride.

The race.. I dont know of any other halloween race, I have a bar we can use for the after party as long as its sun to thurs.

I also am looking at some winter spd boots, I just got to field test them first they would be $159.
These would be a good alternative to the co-op ones and cooler looking with toe spikes.
