Word. I'll soon have my 3rd DT hubset. Two of them built on Mavic OpenPro rims, new ones on Mavic Reflex rims. All with DT spokes. I ride the **** out of them, on and off road, and they've all treated me well. 32-hole (2x/3x) for all, except for one front wheel which is a 28h (that I bought 2nd hand).

That said, all the Mavic factory built stuff is pretty bomb-proof as well.

****ing piece of **** bike i cant wait to get rid of it.

so im taking the bb out this morning (its a hollowtech II) and the left side pops off no problem. then i go for the right side, and after reefing on it for 30min (bb tool in vice, frame on bb tool and hanging off the frame... im 170lb and i had about 60cm of levrage on it) i started to take the vice out of the work bench. i broke an 8mm allen key (for one of my hollowtech tools) and bent the other tool. and the frame is still holding on tight. looks like the whole bb casing is rusted out, and the bb was cross threaded AND no grease. -1000x10^99999999 to broadway for that less then classy performance.

any store in town got a hollowtech II road bb in stock for cheap?

I don't want to sound like a ****bag, but this is why I like doing work myself, except when its just out of my technical abilities (wheel building). Sure you may not have some tools, but I'm sure anyone here would gladly lend you tools.

Look like its time to step up to an NJS outfit with Dura-Ace cranks!

cavit8 10-31-08 10:24 AM

Perhaps stating the obvious, but you know the right cup is left hand threaded, right? It threads in counter-clockwise and out clockwise.

trueno92 10-31-08 10:27 AM

this may have been brought up before but does IRO sell frames and forks seperate?

wanted: iro angus 1" threaded fork for 53cm frame.

anyone anyone?

BOOOOOOOOooooooooooo say it ain't soo Stuart,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, CM was a sh*t load of fun , I loved when we kept going around the runabout over and over and over and over,,,,,,,,,, nice meeting some of U's tonight,,,

jeremywhitehorn 10-31-08 11:59 PM

i saw a couple of guys on fixies with polo mallets in their backpacks fly by the front window at work tonight. i was a bit jealous of their freedom at the time...i like this warm weather!

~Stuart~ 10-31-08 11:59 PM

i lied, the iro is too much fun. changed up the gearing (my 48 tooth chainring didn't fit, kept hitting the chain stay) to 42:16 soo much more fun to stop and start :D . finding using a brake doesnt happen so much now with the lower gear ratio.

im back to bikes. roller blading is for chumps...

Flimflam 11-01-08 02:08 AM

Was good to finally meet you Steeker :) Pretty sure I've seen you before (last year on a 'bent?)

I was at the end of the pack when we got to the circle - that was a very cool sight :D

I left earlyish but was nice to see a nice turnout for Halloween - I wasn't able to make the Halloween CM last year.

Now that it's 4am I ought to head to bed, likely day off riding tomorrow (at least until the evening) so my time to rest up with alcohols help ;)

Also: shout out for duppy and nerdsgirth - where the fark are you guys? Not heard for a little bit :|

Today is -------- Bike Polo Day ,,,,,,,,,,going to drop by and watch again.......

~Stuart~ 11-02-08 07:59 PM

OK!

Question for all you smart people out there

How would one burn through a set of brake pads in 2 days. Would a scratch on the rim be a major contributer?

I am already past the grooves on the pad, and I haven't had it mounted for a week yet. I did play polo on it yesterday and today.

steeker i think i saw you today

MattRennick 11-02-08 07:59 PM

I'm kind of bummed that I missed ALL the polo action this weekend but I spent the day with my girl yesterday and the day in the don today... All in all I'd say that it was well worth it...

~Stuart~ 11-02-08 11:46 PM

whats the difference between the mark v and the mark v pro?

Crappy pads can wear out really fast.
