I just threw the bike rack back onto my car to get us to the race on Saturday. I hope that didn't jinx anything, weather-wise.

That Cyclops looks like a contender for "Toronto Fixed" bike of the season.

Bikes: some- variety is good..

Tires are good.

"The safety factor is uh... unsafe". That cracks me up every time.

Don't rush to clear coat. When I painted up my frame last year I was a little to eager to get rolling on it and clear coated before the paint really cured enough. There are a couple spots on the frame where the paint + clear looked a little melty.

so, riding home on dundas today.

i was slightly behind a streetcar, around the same pace
and this van kept trying to push me into the curb

i stop when the streetcar doors open, and a car honks behind me
i turn around, and its a cop.

he tells me to move over, and pushes up between me and the streetcar,
he tells me that i have to let cars by when i'm riding

i told him i was trying to stay out of the gravel and glass
he told me i have to ride as close to teh curb as possible, no matter what is there

good to know the law is on my side when riding.

Nothing that I'm invited to!

Speaking of which though, now that it's starting to get nice out again, I say we pick out a park to raid every Friday night.

Seriously. Next time you see a couple of those bike cops around, ask them what the real law is. And also ask them how often they ride in the glass and crapola on the street.

In my experience it is extremely hard to sue for damages if there isn't an accident report from the cops. Any time you have an accident, and there is any chance of bike damage or injury, make sure to file a report with the cops. If it appears more serious or you are injured, ask for ambulance/paramedics to be called to the scene...this brings cops as well who then have to file a report.

Moral of story...NEVER use your drivers license to identify yourself when pulled over on your bike.

I believe the law states you must ride as close to the curb as is safely possible. A curb lane full of gravel and glass is not safe. I find it unbelievable that a cop doesn't know the law...oh wait...he does...he's just counting on you not knowing the law.

Don't worry just tell em it is a Dali....

Ok. I'll bake the fork for a lil' while to harden the paint and then will take the time to clearcoat. I am a little worried about clear coat because I have read a tonne about it really running and sometimes even reacting poorly with your paint. It is best to match brands if you can I guess. Thanks for the input homies.

Operator, I'll hit the donut with you! oh wait... give me another week or two ;P I used to ride it a few years back when I had a road bike with a factory paint job.

Man I'm wiped, heh. We didn't start back to Toronto until 8:45 (from Oshawa), and my buddy isn't in nearly the same shape - so it took us a while. He decided to take the bus from Kingston Rd/Eglinton (to Greenwood/Danforth area) which was around 11:05 and by the time he got home, I'd already got to Dundas/University downtown. I got in around 12 and then had to have dinner... doh

Glad I have that pass to bail me out, riding today would be tough on so little rest

I have my daughter this weekend though, so a nice fun relaxing weekend will be perfect! Looks dreary and miserable out so I think I'll take my beater out. Road bike clocked up 122km yesterday all said and done.

But you WERE riding as close to the curb as possible. **** him if he can't take a joke. I find ignoring the honkers works best.

I agree with cavernmech on the driver's license thing. I don't carry ID. We won the war dammit!

bike cops are the funniest, as they will ride super slow side by side in rush hour making it hard for bikes to get by, let alone cars trying to pass a street car.

basically i just asked him what would happen if i got a flat and fell in front of the van that was pushing me in to the curb.

thats when he said "just be safe" and drove away.
