operator: you're an underground shop.
I ended up going to Urbane today. They have a bit of a wait list, but I'm brining my bike in on Wednesday morning and picking it up later that day (+1 to same day service). It's costing me $200 but I'm getting what I hope will be a good set up. And just in time, too- I took my longest fixed ride yet, 20km, today, and now my back wheel is actually a little loose. Is it possible for a wheel to be so untrue that it loosens itself? :S
Maybe the spokes are not tensioned properly? Do you think Urbane will be able to take a look at it and see what the problem is? It is always nice to have a backup wheel. Even if it sucks it sucks less than TTCing it.

hello everyone,
i have pleasant news. My bike(s) were stolen out of my garage today. so be on the lookout for a grey '05 specialized langster that has been taped up to hide all of the logos. there's 3 spoke cards in the rear wheel (1 from charlie's memorial ride, one from the colnago race last fall and one from toby's halloween race) it has bullhorns with a black and white diamond pattern and crappy looking silver pedals with black plastic clips/straps. the saddle was a black brooks b17 with copper rivets on a carbon pazzaz seatpost. my other bike is/was a stock white norco kokanee mtn. bike.
if you see anyone with these bikes please promptly kick them in the balls and then phone me (416)629-3527.

p.s. i'm now entirley bikeless. 2 mtn. bikes, 1 beater and 1 track bike have now been stolen from me in toronto in the last 5 years. awesome.
That sucks, my eyes will be peeled.
I have a question that maybe some of you folks can help me with. A friend of mine has limited use of the left side of her body and would like to get some exercise other than walking. She used to cycle a lot but her injury (SCUBA-diving related stroke) has made it impossible to continue cycling. I think that a three-wheeler might work for her but they are rather large and cumbersome and will entail a lot of work getting it in and out of her apartment, meaning she could not go out for a ride alone or on a whim. I thought that there might be some sort of adult training wheel setup but I cannot seem to find one online.
Has anyone here got any good ideas about this situation? She can drive and operate a car no problem but a bike is a lot more fun, right?

That really sucks. If you have links to photos of said bikes that might be helpful, just in case someone spots something. I assume you're going to keep an eye on the usual suspects/craigslist postings. If you normally ride a 52, I'll see if we have anything used kicking around at the shop that would fit you. For new stuff we have some Steamrollers in right now and I can certainly give you the "make life a bit better" discount.

Yes, I thought of this but they are rather pricey and she already has a pretty nice mountain bike. I will link her to some recumbent sites and see what she thinks, thanks.
These look pretty good, thanks, I will link her to this site as well.
Cheers guys!
Hey Jet, checkout www.fatwheels.com. They have robust training wheels which will fit up to a 26" wheel as well as outriggers which will fit up to a 700. https://tinyurl.com/6ezvof
Cheers guys!

Will keep my eyes peeled for the bike(s) - the Langster looks identifiable, so I'll keep that in mind for sure. Sorry to hear that
(Stolen from garage = someone must've been casing your joint out, no?)
Jet, I met a guy on Tuesday night that only had the one leg - he used a weighted pedal on his non-leg side to keep pedal roation somewhat 'normal' - as I assumed he was using clipless pedals at first. If control for her arm-wise of a regular bike is OK, then this might be a solution to help with the leg work.
Got home from the film festival soaked and at about 11:15, meaning my 4:15 rise for the hairshirt this morning lasted a good 3 minutes, then I decided "eff it, I'm tired and I can do this another weekend" - not been feeling strong in the legs all week, bit bummed but no point trying to haul 322k when I'm not feeling upto par
Still I might jaunt out to Hamilton soon, just to get some cobwebs off the road bike. Anyone up to a road ride? I'm flexible on destination.

Showed up to the film festival for the 7pm ticket ... really enjoyed Standing Start (track racing short w/ a crazy aggro Spartan mythology/300 vibe) and The Road to Roubaix (yep, about Paris-Roubaix ... specifically the 2007 edition). In a surprise twist, Sara and I could be seen wandering through the background of one of the shots (I'd like to thank tha academy, etc.).

it's day 2 of the Cancer ride to Niagara as well no?
I was somewhat surprised to see it was a two day ride, with a stopover in Hamilton....where do they put all those folks up for the night?
