don is swampy, and pretty much unrideable as of an hour ago.
total fun this afternoon, although now my callouses have callouses.
managed to
a) get up on the rear wheel several times, no hops yet though.
b) ride over a park bench (among other similarly tall objects), to the surprise of a passerby
c) not break anything or cut myself badly.
success!

High roller!
YMMV, but I really like the Castelli bibs. They're super soft and nice. Not everyone is built the same though, so one person's favorite brand might not be anothers (kinda like saddles). My Giordana stuff is nicer, but it's also more expensive and harder to get around these parts. Clearly I prefer fine Italian cycling clothing however..
(oh, and my shoes are SIDIs
)
Lower price bracket is Sugoi, Pearl Izumi, then Castelli a few others with Assos being the creme de la creme. MEC has Castelli bib shorts for $80. A pair of regular shorts or even just a liner may be best if you've got limited cash and just want to try it out. If I'm doing stuff, like Krusty, I prefer liner under some cargo shorts.

I got my bike today. I can't get used to the longer cranks (172.5)! I might have to switch to 170's these just feel weird. The bike fits so well though, so once I get it dialed in it's going to be awesome. I said I'd post pics but i'm tired and will take a nap instead. I'm going to do it soon though honest.

Is there anywhere you guys prefer to buy stuff on the internet? Possibly somewhere within Canada, so I don't get beaten over the head with shipping?
I'm looking for a lower-end 16t cog and a lockring, so even if someone had these to sell, I'd be interested in buying them from you.
Also, any recommendations as far as bike shops in Toronto/GTA that have track stuff in stock? Thanks a lot.

You should really talk to Phil at Cycle Therapy. He's a friendly guy and basically always up for a ride. I don't know that I've ridden with a better bike handler (who also raced downhill and cross country back in the day), so you two can probably have a good time on some stuff around the neighbourhood or on the trails. Phil's prone to breaking bikes because of some of the stuff he'll try but it'll definitely be good times until something explodes.

re:loop, im coming too, I have the weekend off. just TRY to pick an afternoon if possible.
and danhalen, if you ever consider giving away/swapping those cranks, I call pre-dibs!!! longleggednessssssssssss.
k i need to seriously jump back on the roadie and fly back to work, holy bf addiction batman.

There's not a lot of online places in Canada. I generally order from Probikekit (www.probikekit.com) in the UK which has free shipping to Canada. I've rarely been burned on duty. Best stuff to get there IMO is tires. They also carry Miche and Dura-ace track stuff. I've also purchased from Nashbar but got dinged on duties. The deal has to be pretty good for me to go to Nashbar. I've also ordered online from various bike shops online. The big trick is to get USPS if you can. FedEx or other couriers drill you on cross-border warehousing fees.
And in other news, I have a five channel digital answering machine and a 0.9 GHz cordless phone set with 2 handsets to give away.

lol.. can't help but find that funny, knowing the madness on the MUPs
Sweet frame/wheelset Pyze, ETA on build?
Rob/Dan - I'm up for the donut, tell me when - am I allowed to ride my fixed?
j/k I need to get out on the roadie.
If a road caliper isn't releasing/opening back up properly - should I just take it apart and clean/rebuild or could it be something else? Could improper cable tension/length be a cause? My back brake is hosed on my roadbike in this way - still works, just doesn't release properly off the rim on one side after application and I want to get 'er fixed.

Krusty, nice to meet you and thanks for the crank.
Padded shorts on the cheap, I like these.

Probably Sunday. If you're going fixed, then I'll go fixed; if Rob has the Capo put together by then, we should all go fixed...

Haha. I *may* have the capo done by done, that is if I put cheap(er) brakes/levers/stem/seat on. And if I really wanted to build my rear wheel. Argh not enough time!

Anyone want to ride bikes on dirt sometime this week[end]?
Also, it appears that I have Monday off (as do most of you as well?) so that's also a possibility.

If anyone is interested, a friend is selling his bike:
KHS flite 100 with upgraded cranks and wheels (miche cranks and hubs on ambrosio rims and a couple extra sets of bars) It's a 55cm and he wants ~600 for it.

Awesome Pyze, she's gonna be a beaut.
But a formula lockring, not DA?
*runs*
Fancy shmancy though, sounds nice. Can you get a Chris King with no etching?
kergin/op - I'm good for geared or fixed on Sunday, ideally not an eyecrackingly early start, but I'll deal if need be... the more the merrier that can make it out, I figure.

How does the Flite compare to the Fuji Track Pro? I'm looking to get my brother in law a new ride, and the componentry/price seem marginal given the quality difference here assuming the KHS is equal/better to the Fuji (was looking at Bikes on Wheels in Kensington for those @ ~$450).
