Anyone interested in trading fancy road crank/BB for track one? PMs please.

I have bad circulation on my hands and they get cold FAST. I got some of those reusable chemical hand warmers (here or here).

Tried one this morning (other was defective, but then I could compare with/without). Can't say it made much difference, but it wasn't super cold...

what about using the lobster bike gloves , peeps up north swear by them

I saw those at MEC too but they didn't seem very good for movement, I couldn't grip things as tight when I was trying them on. But I have big hammy paws for hands so that might be part of it too.

Today I used my Gordini gloves, which I think are from MEC. They're regular ski gloves basically - very warm but useless for trying to use fingers/any kind of dexterity. For slightly warmer temps, I wear a pair of those really small/tight wool gloves (cheapo things you see at Canadian Tire, etc.) and wear them under either my neoprene diving gloves (if it's raining or cooler) or some crap leather driving gloves. The wool helps my fingertips keep warm under the windchilled leather.

The ski gloves are pretty well overkill until it gets a bit further below 0, but I've worn my wool gloves into fingerless on most digits, so I need to replace - and this wind is cold in just those leather gloves

the CM halloween ride is this friday and so is a bike polo match around the same time, which one are peeps going to ,.

anyways, i was just at MEC yesterday to look at gloves and what they got for cycling isn't all that hot.. i mean, kinda exp and don't look/feel all that warm. there was a pair of what felt like neoprene's that i thought would be ok, but the palms aren't padded and i think the wind would rip em after a while.



^^ not what i thought would hold up to winter..


i went to the upstairs section and got a pair of other thin, but a little more robust nylon (claimed windproof) fingers/knuckles and the palms are padded with another textured cloth. i think they are for cross country skiiing..

they fit ok.. will see how they last for the donut run on sunday..
hmm they dont' seem to be listed on MEC's site, but they are thin lined and $29.

i have a pair of descent gloves and they are very uncomfortable

i think they tend to make the thumbs too short and they have those seems right at the tip of the thumb ... maybe my thumb is just too big but i've never had issues with other gloves and if i got the XL's they would be too big

I've always gone with the idea of true winter cycling gloves are either the lobster type or look the same as 'normal' gloves. I've always wondered whether the type of gloves that construction workers use would be good for cycling. They would be good for the cold and they would need good use of their hands.

I don't know where a construction worker would shop, but markswork warehouse?

I've not been for a couple of months, but the Wednesday nights were just rides around different areas for fun, no racing (Sprints were a feature, but seemed to have taken a backseat).

"Track tricks" was something started on Tuesday nights by Tom Mosher at Trinity Bellwoods (later they started going to the Polo at that park at Dundas/Bathurst I think) but I've only been there a couple of times and it might have died off with the weather.

all of you looking for warm gloves, and want to be able to move your hands, look at ice climbing gloves

I am using some MEC windblocker gloves right now, very thin and comfy. They seem to be good to amout -2/3 degrees. I like the lobster gloves in the real cold times. I used the Swix brand before, very comfy but not warm enough. The MEC ones are better as I can weat thin liner gloves as well.

oh yea and they cost like 100$+
