Dear ... everybody,

This is the part that fell off my fender tonight. I doubled back but couldn't find it. Anyone have this part kicking around somewhere ... or even a bin of "fender jiblets" that I can pick through in search of one? The fender is a Zefal Flamingo.

EDIT: http://twitpic.com/17zuh <-- Stupid TwitPic ... that's what I get for not posting it on Flickr.

Yeah, I have one off of a similar fender I don't use. I'll throw it in my bag and check back here later to see if you want it and where you'll be at around 5PM.

Well, after a few days of reprieve it look like we're back in the **** today.

Sketchy ride in this morning, guess the snow plowers don't work morning shifts.

Snow Day!

kergin 01-28-09 09:36 AM

days like this make me wish for disc brakes. On the flip side, a cross bike was the right choice!

Which route do you take to get home? Maybe you can leave it somewhere and I can just pick it up. I live at College/Ossington-ish, btw, and I'll probably be at home by 5pm.

Flimflam 01-28-09 01:04 PM

Came off twice on my jaunt across town and back home. Second time was because of tracks, which I lost track of (har har) and got caught up in without realising. Doh!

Still a fair amount of fun to be had out there, just be careful of those big metal boxes!

Think I'll be taking the TTC to Keele/Steeles today :)

aMull 01-28-09 01:16 PM

Have some work at yorku? I won't be going out today, will wait until the streets are a bit more clear.

I think I saw you riding up humewood the otherday... I was walking with a giant puffy orange coat

Anyone know if it's possible to get a decent mountain bike with front suspension in this city for around the 550-600 dollar mark? Track geo and 23mm tires is giving me an almost primal urge to ride a bike I can take over rough stuff on weekends but everything I check in the MTB forum seems to suggest that anything under 800 USD sucks and will break instantly. I don't need something that'll stand up to dirt jumping (on account of me being a wimp) just something I can ride down trails and crash into the occasional tree.

I've got birthday money and space on my credit card, gotta get on the spend train ;)

If you are thinking new, for that kind of $ something on the bike will be sub-par....usually the fork. I would say look for a good used bike in that range. Its used yes...but you will get a better performing bike.

Sorry about not checking the thread. I was in a meeting from 3 until 5:30, so I would have missed you anyhow. Common drop off location... uh... I could leave it with Keith at CS, if that's ok with you. I would drop it off around 5:30 tomorrow afternoon.

Stuart - I take Humewood on a daily basis... which leads me to my next question: how does the city not plow on roads around schools? Also, city workers are G4N to the max; they had the whole day to plow and salt, yet did nothing.

Also, Chris King makes whole wheels? DT 1.1s to King Classics with DT 14/15 spokes. ~1700g @ 699 or so. Dear Chris, make a campy compatible hub. thanks.

Close, our main client is on CanArctic Drive just opposite York Blvd, so I head there a bunch - probably all of this week, infact.

Hope things will have got a bit saner for tomorrow, I'd like to ride up.

Assuming Keith doesn't have a problem with it I'll be swinging by there this weekend so that works.

There was some coffee talk a few pages back, so I figured I'd throw this in here in case anyone is looking to spend what most people would consider too much $$ on an espresso machine. Unlike the bike stable equation, apparently the "n+1" rule doesn't work when it applies to real estate in the kitchen. Would rather it went to someone I know (even through forums) than a random stranger on CL:

EDIT: On topic content -- cold/slush/ice/drivers suck. There was a day or 2 there where it was warm & the roads were almost clear.. sigh...

cavit8 01-29-09 07:19 PM

I'll add this link to some comments about the Rancilio Silva that foo is selling.
http://www.coffeecrew.com/content/view/411/27/

It is a fine machine. If I didn't already have la pavonis and have to drop cash to get to TO to grab it, I'd seroiusly consider picking it up :-).

Probably right dude. I think I just had this unrealistic hope that someone would pipe up and say "oh dude, get this bike, it's 599 and it's awesome!". Now I remember how much of a factor having to pay for fewer expensive componenets on the bike was when I went fixed...

In other news, if anyone is ever wondering if an ACS freewheel will last any longer than one winter at the most, the answer is definately no.
