Note to self: cross tires hold no traction on asphalt corners.

I learned that lesson at College and University. Did you go down or just drift the front wheel a bit?

Learned it in the parking garage at work, going down a ramp into a turn. If you're around, I'm going to drop into CT today; you work there still, right?

Why would they not hold in corners? I would think they would be similar to mtb knobbies.

Cool, I'm very intrigued after reading the little synopsis there too :) When is the release? Will there be a local launch party deally?

Decided to bathe my bike in the shower tonight, man, so much easier... Boy was she salt-grimed up though, it really needed it.

No so much, working as a web designer now.

... and CT's normally closed Mon/Tues, you might want to try on Wednesday.

Holy crap. Been off the bike for about 3 weeks due to being sick, and I'm still kind of sick but my mind is blown at how quickly you lose your fitness level. I'm back to where I was at the beginning of the summer :(

Feels damn good to be back on a bike though. This morning's ride in was great, despite my getting winded from getting into my toe clips...

It'll come back quickly. Besides, this time of year is all about just being on the bike and not freezing to death or bailing on the wet/snowy/icy roads. :)

Apparently the charles prinsep foundation has it's inagural meeting at hart house next monday - the 12th. Anyone with any other info beside what's on the website?

elTwitcho 01-06-09 09:22 PM

True enough shapelike, I fell at the beginning of winter, I think I've put in my sideways on the pavement time until at least springtime ;)

In a semi unrelated note;

Anyone know of a good long cycling route you can ride without having to dodge alot of traffic or deal with high speed cars passing you way too closely? I don't know the bike path/trail system in the city at all and it seems you can't really build a good rythm in the city 'cause I'm devoting so much of my attention to traffic and hazards. A really long bike path maybe? Where do all the roadies go? Something to keep me dreaming of until everything thaws maybe, haha

the waterfront trail is being cleared this year. Combined with the spit you can get a nice 50k loop without hardly touching roads (the only stretch being queens quay from bathurst to parliament)

In the summer you can add the humber and don river trail system to get an easy metric century

Here you go. I haven't found a real car-free route on regular roads, but once you hit Innis Lake Road, things get very quiet. This would be a good all-day trip in the summer.

shapelike 01-06-09 10:40 PM

Wait a second, does this mean Kergin's going to race CX next season ... or Tour of Pelham/Paris-Ancaster?

(it occured to me that now that you own a CX bike you might, you know, race it ... n'stuff)

zippered 01-07-09 07:00 AM

oooweee! wet riding today boy!

(:D)

Oh man. I'd ridden the waterfront trail but never realized it started back up again after parliament. I've just ridden it to parliament and assumed that was the end of it.

I need boobi.....booties. Can anyone recommend the most waterproof booties known to man?

2wheelsgood 01-07-09 04:47 PM

these just showed up on craigslist. if they were my size i'd think about it.

I have neoprene kayaking socks that I like for the price. They won't keep your feet dry but they will keep them warm when wet.

shapelike 01-07-09 06:22 PM

Gore-Tex socks FTW! I was really happy with mine today - stayed dry on the ride to and from work.
