I smoked some pedestrian tonight on my ride home.... ****head jumped out from between two cars and I semi drifted semi bodychecked past him. I would have stopped And let him go but it was too slusshy and I was moving too fast.

Now for sleep.

Edit: that sounds bad. He jumped out and he did one of those " which way am I going" jump back and forth so I picked the gap and slipped through, but he stepped into me as I passed so my shoulder smacked him pretty hard ( I gots me a bruised arm this morning)

Yup, they are being used on the s/s mtb.

It was cold out for a ride last night! I was out for less than 90mins and my vodka and tonic froze on me:mad:

happy new year all!

I often get that "which way do I go?" thing with pedestrians, most freeze up though and I go around them. I guess I am goign to hell because I kinda think it is funny ;)

I remember b!tching about it to a girlfriend once, years ago, how no one in the city looks both ways before they cross the street. She didn't really think it was all that bad and that I was being a big baby until we went riding once and she couldn't believe how many close calls we had. People running for street cars are pretty reckless, it is weird....

I guess being by yourself is one of the few nicer things about riding outside the city core. Over here it's just me and cars, pedestrians are a rare sight.

Happy New Year everyone...

I rode over here in the East end, was mostly clear, and I rode over at around 7/8pm so it wasn't /too/ cold.

Safe riding all!

Must ride bike.

I want LBP, tried to get it at HMV on boxing day for $40 but it was sold out, looks like a lot of fun

Oh, it is. Try Best Buy, they have it for $45 right now.

right - i thought so.

i didn't realize how clear of snow the martin goodman was until i took a ride on it last night. i have to say it's a nice treat to be able to ride that in the winter.

I_bRAD 01-02-09 08:42 AM

Yeah, I griped about it at first, but now I kinda like it.
It's still a waste of money, but at least they're wasting it on me

jeremywhitehorn 01-02-09 08:46 AM

i suppose if the city isn't going to clear any other bike paths on the streets they may as well do this one really really well. is it cleared all the way to the east? i only took it as far as the exhibition...

you at the shop today?

I_bRAD 01-02-09 08:57 AM

I've gone as far as leslie to the east and the humber bridge to the west. It stops for sure when you hit etobicoke at the bridge... not sure how far east it goes. The trail between jarvis and parliament is closed along queens quay 'cause of the construction, but the trail on the north side of lakeshore is definitely cleared to leslie like I said. Not sure if it continues to the end of the beaches or not.

no shop for me! we've been closed since the 20th. Going back on monday :)

heh, only that spot was pure ice: the lookout beside the beaver pond at the south end of the leslie spit/tommy thompson park. there was certainly ice on the road, but it had been cleared, as well as the multi-use path like brad mentioned. still, for all these freeze-thaw days we've been having, i'm glad to have the studs. (plus i'll feel extra fast in the spring!)

i often use the trail for commuting and recreational riding, so i really appreciate this season's initiative. except for all the salt. pretty much everytime i've been on that trail lately there have been cyclists, which is a good sign imho.

kergin 01-02-09 12:04 PM

Finally commuted on the Major Jake today :) There's a bigger difference in the effort required to pedal that bike with Michelin Mud 2s than I expected! It'll be a good workout, to be sure. Just some minor tweaks remain, like finding bars which bring the STI levers further back.

HNY!

what up all!

JW, I'm down with the meetup tomorrow after work.

Might also be down for the ride.

For the love of god man, post pics!

I will post pics. I had to change the brakes today. Went with TRP cantis to replace the just bought Shimano BR-R550s. Those Shimano calipers were ****.
