Where does this leave the pool. I dont know. See how it plays out for the rest of the day.

wow. Well, we could always delay the deadline for pool entries until Saturday at midnight, unless you think tomorrow's prologue (ITT) is going to highlight the eventual jersey winners. At least this way we'll all know who's starting.

Ok Kids don’t forget no Beer or LCBO stores open tomorrow & most other places!
Stock up
Cheers

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 07:41 AM

I think you might have to do that. They'll have riders dressed and ready to go with officials arguing right up until start time. I like how some teams are cutting the star, avoid the controversy and get your jersey on TV, that's all that matters to them in the long run anyway.

jeremywhitehorn 06-30-06 07:56 AM

i've seen people drive to critial mass in the past; sort of socially-conscious-former-anarchist-now-lives-in-oakvile-but-wants-to-hang-on-to-their-roots types. if you're going to drive i suppose it's better than driving to costco...

speaking of irony cavern, i just read on cycling news that amidst all the news of dobing and such that a certain Mr. David "EPO" Miller is ready to return to race the tour. it's like a big revolving door for drug use.

anyone read that article on 'roids that i posted.

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 08:00 AM

That's how I read that...... Yea the revolving door is pretty gross. Let's cut em all off.... get a whole new batch of pros, new pro organizations and sponsors that will police their charges. I still think creating a pro cycling town and isolating them while they are under contract isn't such a crazy idea.

  to whole foods and MEC

SamHouston 06-30-06 08:04 AM

I think I'm going to go to CM tonight. Where is it & where does it start from & the time and all that? I haven't been in a Toronto CM since 99'.

I feel a need to make a goofy freaking outfit for it too....anyone else going to do that? I'm going to ride the wife's bike too, that with a goofy costume should be fun.

Anyone care to have a lookin stoopid contest at CM tonight?

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 08:07 AM

It took him a long time to come to grips with the helmet rules after he stopped juicing. It's all about the hair.

SamHouston 06-30-06 08:09 AM

Yall all seem to be here? Who alls going to CM tonight? Anyone gonna dress up?

C'mon Keith, wear that dress that you wore at New Years!

Cheers

You could always just wear your pants on your head and your t-shirt on your legs and then ride upside down with your hands on the pedals.

SamHouston 06-30-06 08:30 AM

Ahh well at least some people are coming too even if they don't want to play. :D

the sponsors are the last ones who are going to police these guys. let's face it, they only fire the guys to make an example of them when they get caught. if they can do it undetected, the sponsors don't give a ***** as long as they're winning stages. there's no way to eliminate drugs in sports so why not balance it out. make the athelets do something BAD for their health before they start the race like eat a cheeseburger or drink a beer or smoke a cigar...

I was just going out to get milk, looks like a stop at the Beer Store is on order too. I never thought I'd say that.

jeremywhitehorn 06-30-06 08:48 AM

that's an idea. but i just like the thought of making drug taking MANDATORY. so, taking sleeping pills or drinking a 5th or gin before a stage. make it more like an alleycat or the single speed championships.

This has been true up until this point but this could be a tipping point when the favoured field is suspect.
I can see terms of conduct agreements being drafted. No more blind eyes until caught. A whole team has been asked not to compete based on the possible actions of the athletes. Regardless of wether the team itself is complacent in the doping or not, the team, ergo the sponsor, has just been handed a marketing black eye that could really affect the bidness. I say you get busted for drugs you give up your salary and endorsments, effectively you rode for nothing.

I'm still annoyed that I spent last Spring/Summer living in Sweden, and the SSWC is happening there this year. d'oh!

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 09:19 AM

Tour of LSD

jeremywhitehorn 06-30-06 09:26 AM

anyone else notice that in all this doping mess, most of the top american riders remain unscathed (Julich, Leipheimer, Horner, Zabriske, Hincapie). the euros must be thrilled....

EDIT: i forgot about Landis.

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 09:36 AM

http://www.cycling-manager.com I wonder if there is a doping component to the game where two days before the start of the race your team is decimated by bans and arrests. I just read in another thread there was the sounds of Champagne uncorking on the Landis bus.
