Well Jet... you may have really liked that post but it would appear the post had differing feelings about you.

cavit8 05-12-08 02:10 PM

That bike is obviously defective and damaged your seatpost. I'll take it off your hands if you like before it kills again.

In terms of getting the post out, can you not just clamp on a monkey wrench or can drill a hold then bolt a cross bar on to help twist it out. Or clamp the post in a vise and use the bike to twist it out?

Sounds nifty. Make sure you've got a ticket home in case it turns out to be a gay bondage porn gig in disguise.

German Exkremente/Bondage pr0n.

P.S.: cav, how many bikes do you own/want/need?

TRaffic Jammer 05-12-08 02:38 PM

So..how many jobs do you "have" waiting for you vs. how many do you have to "get" once in country? Live in a tent and pocket the perdium. Do NOT GO OUT FOR ANY REASON....I've known models that have blown every penny keepin up with the night life.
Though a German Bondage scene shoot would get ya a ticket home if all went south.

I think the Math expression for this would be:

$x / $x + 1 / http://cdn-www.answerbag.com/images/...1205238459.gif

:D

And how can you tell I have too much time on my hands?

Just a reminder that tomorrow night is looking great for the DSR Dirt ride. We'll meet at 6.30 and head out at 6.45. Last week was a blast and I'm sure tomorrow will be just as good (if not better)...

cupcrazy4 05-12-08 06:55 PM

So I decided I'm going to strip everything off of an old 1980s racing frame and build it up as a fixie, which saves me from buying a new frame. Only problem is, I don't really like the frame colour/scheme.

I've researched a DIY paint-job, but don't really want to go that route/would probably screw it up. I've heard you can get places to powdercoat your frames/forks. Know of any good/reliable places that won't screw it up?

Any suggestions for colours/themes? I've seen so many beautiful bikes on Fixedgeargallery that I can't decide what I want.

thanks in advance

somnambulant 05-12-08 07:04 PM

hmm.. seems like my hub decided to die. The bearings at the very least. It doesn't really want to spin anymore. Then again, I have treated it like a red-headed step-child, so I'm not surprised.

You can take it over to Jet Kote in Mississauga. They're at Eglinton & Dixie, IIRC.

which hub? the one on your urbanite?

pyze-guy 05-12-08 09:24 PM

After the DSR ride I'm going to head on over to Manic coffee with the hubs. I should be there 8:15ish. If you are going to be able to make it let me know so I bring the hubs for you. $39 for 120, $41 FOR 126/130.

cavit8 05-12-08 09:25 PM

Wilco

racoons ... you almost run them over then they sit in the middle of the road and lick their asses

I was trying to get the post out and it snapped. The design of the post was a bit odd, it had a really thin part up by the clamp and I was trying to twist the post around but it snapped instead. I had just put it in the frame about a month ago which was why I was so surprised that it was stubborn to get out....oh well, the post was $30 on CL a couple of years ago.

It is my Ciocc frame and I have two other seat posts that fit it and that are being un-used but the carbon was pretty comfy.

And yeah, to cupcrazy4, if you powder-coat your frame at Jet-Kote, it is only $75 for a simple colour such as black or white (and red I think) and then it goes up to $120 for funkier stuff. I am planning on re-doing my Ciocc in white since I managed to get my hands on some yellow decals....I liked the white on my Razesa a lot, so fresh!

Search this thread for 'razesa' and you should be able to see some close-up pics of the frame when it came back from Jet-Kote, they did a pretty good job.

Feew I though it snapped while riding... Carbon postseized in steel... weird.

Cupcrazy4 I tried a DIY paint job and it was a PITA. Plus my job was mediocre and the frame is full of rusty chips now. I'm sure you can do better but it's though to beat a 75$ powdercoat (plus it's super durable and enviromentally friendly). Or you can try Marinoni in Montréal: 160$ with a max 2 week turnaround time. I'm bringing a frame there this w-e so we'll see.

No kidding, my diy ended up costing about the same as a powdercoat!

Herbie_Glick 05-13-08 08:17 AM

Hey Pyze, not sure if I can make it to Manic tonight. Can I call you closer to 5?
