How much $$ are the tubular clinchers? Do they really reduce pinch flats? I pretty much have to run my cross clinchers at 75 psi to avoid pinchflats, and even then I still get them from time to time. I was considering building a tubular wheelset for the cross bike. Never can have too many wheels, right?

You cannot pinch flat these. I have em here unmounted if you want to have a look. They are in the $60-$120 range for the clincher tubies. The ones I have you can run at 28psi!
Oh yeah...I got Tufo tire sealant as well. Adds 15 gm to the weight..will fill a hole up to 1/8 inch!

Cool. 28 psi-I can't do that on my MTB. Pricey though. Are standard tubular cross tires any cheaper? I wouldn't mind having a set, just to kick it old-school.

The tubie clincher is really quite ingenious. It has a base layer with beads to "clinch" on the rim. No glue...no mess. Brooks runs a set on his track training wheels and loves em. The Tufo tires use a true tubeless system. The tire casing is airtight. The sealant can be put in before use or after a puncture has already occured. The lightest tubie clincher tips the scales at 225 gms. The ones I showed you were the S3 lite tubular...125 gms.

For comparison purposes the Vittoria cross tubies weigh substantially more (at least when you are talking about tire weight) have an inferior casing tpi and run about $70 per.
I will give you a great deal on em next time I order. I will let you know.
