you should get ticketed for not picking up dog poop... Can you imagine what the city was like before cars and bikes? Mixed in with the stench of hog slaughtering the city must have reeked.

Okay guys I need you with me on this.... we have rapidly caught up to the pictures sticky thread in regards to posting volume. I find this sad and slightly alarming. I vote that the day we exceed that thread we have to let this one die. Once and for all. Then we can start a new thread and maybe cavit8 will come back... anyways I'm off for lunch. I expect some feedback!

True, but I am of the "we make our own fate" school and I rarely let anyone decide anything for me so I give most cars/cabs/cyclists the benefit of the doubt that they don't see me and I make my decision from there. It has served me well as I haven't been hit by anything in the 21 years I have been riding the streets of Toronto

edit: now that I've said it, I'll get hit on the ride home tonight, guaranteed

This morning some idiot parked in the bike lane was inching left as if to pull back into traffic, so, I went to the curb to get by him. As his space in traffic appeared, he instead suddenly swerved back to the curb with the passenger door already swinging open (presumably to discharge his passenger who hadn't wanted to get out when he was just parked there 30 seconds previously!). I was cleanly faked by it, though fortunately had time and space to react.

With respect to the comment above, I think I've noticed the same thing about watching the wheels ... not something I could describe to a non-cyclist so it's cool to see it here!
welcome! and yeah, my Mom has always talked about watching the wheels of other cars while driving, so it's something I've always done while both driving and cycling. It's a good tip if you're wondering what cars are likely to do... of course, it's different when you talk about sudden movements of cab's, but we all know that.

Living in Little Portugal has been terrible for this during world cup. College St has a giant pile of horse crap every 15 feet every time Portugal has played.. but no more! yay! Why they can't put "diapers" on the horses like they do in NYC/etc is beyond me. (or simply NOT USING HORSES, but that's besides the point)

Sweep242 has those bars. I don't think he liked them much, but it could just be that he doesn't like drops in general.

Lake front trail? Do we have a flatish dirt trail that we can whip along? I like honking along the rolling stuff, not a huge climb and descend rider.

There isn't a whole lot of reason to use track drops in the city. Or at least, I haven't found them.

I vote we just cut out the inane bull****. *gasp*
Is that a not so subtle hint ;D

Dude. Use your words.

Also: I know this has been brought up several times before, but that's part of the reason why I'm posting again. I could never figure out what the best choice was. Can someone tell me the "best" place to get a frame + fork powdercoated? I don't want to have to deal with stripping it myself. This is for my old mountain bike, which I'm considering turning into a SS (potentially flip-flop) bike for winter/utility use since it has full rack/fender eyelets, etc.

not Biseagal; they've had my bike in their shop since january and once it was finally painted it was somehow scratched so we're back to square one.

if i remember correctly, spectrum powdercoaters was the place of choice. i could be wrong...

I wasn't too impressed with some of the stuff i've seen coming back from spectrum powdercoats. They seemed kind of dulll.

If you wear tight pants and wink at the floor manager....her name is Maria....expect to pay about $75 for dip, blast, and one colour coat. It's not a pimpin' paint job but it is really tough and durable and turn around is usually one week. I have been happy with the approximately 40 frames I have had them do for me.

Great. Thanks for the info, guys! I'm more interested in durability than pure sexiness since this is going to be more of a utilitarian bike (and occasional fun double-track / path bomber).

Hey guys, screw getting custom Toronto bike jerseys, lets just agree to all buy a complete pro team kit and we can ride in a paceline around town and then have a podium celebration wherever we go.
