In Mt. Pleasant cemetary are four of the six roundabouts that I know of in Toronto. Great for Keirin. But I have no idea what cemetary groundspeople are like to trespassers as I never went through a goth stage in high school. Beautiful, fun and varied place to ride though, and I'm sure we won't disturb the dead.

hahahahah youre right...thats a great place to ride...watch out for the evil spirits tho...

TRaffic Jammer 10-04-06 10:52 AM

I've seen people riding through there...my wife and I have sat there on occasion. You can ride all through the cemetery. I don't know dude, while it might be a perfect spot in terms of quiet but some of it is still open to traffic. Not sure how keen on that I'd be.

junior in train 10-04-06 10:55 AM

Hey!

It was an invitation. I don't need you screwing around with the route. Mt. Pleasnt is fine allows a quick detour through Moore Park. If you are scare of a little traffic stay home. Just trying to be friendly.

Might have even sprung for the croissants.

Cut the hole in the bottom and yes they are. I'm not comfy racing around the cemetery.

hahahahaha me either...that could get hairy...

edit: Timberland needs to make spd compatible boots!

TRaffic Jammer 10-04-06 11:03 AM

Oddly enough coming from me it's about respect. With all the silliness we get up to sitting around I wouldn't want to be drinkin' beers and smokin' there. Not for fear of anyone but just out of simple respect for the dead and/or any visitors coming to visit loved ones. If you had asked me pre-kids the answer would have been "When do we go?"

Hahaha.. I could do some macho posturing here but theres really no point. Suffice to say, if traffic on Mt. Pleasant doesn't scare you, you're crazy. Its easy to avoid. Thanks for trying to be friendly chum...

I was actually referring to Steeker's construction boots.

No one was trying to mess with your route. Thanks for the invite.

heeheee to Shiz..... that would be a hard hole to cut.

junior in train 10-04-06 11:08 AM

Posturing?

How come I don't see you at weekly crits or O-Cup races?

How about group training rides?

500 pages, maybe you prefer to just chat about cycling while the rest of us are actually logging the hard miles and racing to actually test ourselves. Instead of cruising for dim sum in chinatown.

lymbzero 10-04-06 11:10 AM

I ride through Mt.Pleasant Cemetary everyday.
Racing in the autumn theres going to be wet leaves.
It makes cornering at highspeeds dangerous.
It would be fun but the roads aren't THAT great..

Besides its a place for dead people.

TRaffic Jammer 10-04-06 11:10 AM

Are you reacting to an internet post? He said he wasn't going to engage in posturing.... drop it.
After that it was all wha wha whawhawha ....

 exactly what I mean

STEEKER 10-04-06 11:13 AM

traffic jammer and I and the older guy's have put more miles on the road than you so be nice maybe after you ride 10 more years you could say other wise

cavit8 10-04-06 11:18 AM

The alternate route was a suggestion as an alternate. Sorry it disturbed your karma. So when were you planning on doing your training ride and where are you meeting?

STEEKER 10-04-06 11:25 AM

strange question but has any one riding an indoor trainer naked and are the worth the money? I was looking at the trainer that has rollers so you have to balance on them with your bike .

Shiznaz 10-04-06 11:27 AM

what the hell steeker, do you have typing tourets syndrome? I saw a commercial with Bob Roll one time and he was naked cycling on a trainer with bling around his neck. It was one time too many.

junior in train 10-04-06 11:28 AM

Meet at Gerry and Heathers in Rosedale at 7 AM Sat. Sun. & holiday Mon. That way we can get to Laird and Eglinton by 9 AM if we feel like doing the long route.

I am not asking you to watch me unless you want to:D , I never tried to the roller trainers but think they would be better than the stationary ones

Been on the road for over twenty years and I would be willing to wager I log more miles than you "older guys".

moeuf 10-04-06 11:40 AM

STEEKER 10-04-06 11:43 AM

If this is you being friendly I'd hate to experience you being an a-hole. This is a pretty easy going place, take the holier than thou attitude elsewhere.

I like this thread. Nice quick responses. I think that I'll have to visit more often.

After all we are all Toronto cyclists. So much in common, so much to talk about.

TRaffic Jammer 10-04-06 11:49 AM

Rollers are, as stationairies(sp?) , a sweat box, naked riding is not recommended as you will be dripping sweat all over your ride. Steeker you ARE a sick f*#k and I hope you know I mean that in the nicest of ways. Junior in Train.. these are a bunch of good people here.

:roflmao: I love you to let's do a pizza rain ride tonight ( if I can get out)

cavit8 10-04-06 11:53 AM

I feel kinda bad. I ran over a pigeon today, no room to dodge and he evidently was eating fermented mung off Dundas in Chinatown as his reaction time wasn't what it should have been. In the middle of traffic I had no wear to dodge and, judging from the faces of the passerbys the result wasn't pretty. I could feel him going past my toes into the rear wheel (another benefit of wearing sandals, you doubters) and some noises from my cog followed. When I was able to look back I thought I could see it flopping into the oncoming traffic. Hopefully it's end was quick.

But then I saw a squirrel and I like squirrels, so I felt better.
