You get .4 of lonely.....shim time? This is the exact reason why a good shop will have a liberal supply of beer cans available as raw material.

Kaibot 03-16-07 08:37 AM

I dont want to be back in toronoto

Shiznaz 03-16-07 08:38 AM

It appears to work perfectly though. Upon examining the clamp area with a magnifying glass I can't really see any ovalization of the stem clamp in relation to the bar, its not slipping, and the 2 flanges the clamp bolt pulls together seem parellell and not pulled too close together. I didn't have to torque on it like crazy either.

no you would get a bit of slipping if you were to use and old cinelli stem with a standard road bar. i believe the old oversized clamp cinellis had a bolt that tightened at the back if that's any clue.

you could always shim it a little if you're worried.

Offhoff 03-16-07 08:43 AM

Keith if you see this I'm going to come by just after noon today 'cause I have to work some OT. Hope its not too much of a pain.

Thanks

you're thinking about this more than i would; i'd just clamp it, ride it and if it slipped, drink a guiness and cut up the can to shim it.

check this out...

I'd normally be the same way, but I'm taking it to the track on saturday and will have barley any test ride time available, so I don't want the bars to slip when I'm riding and take down all the rec riders... better safe than sorry when there are other people and splinters involved. I guess if it works with bullhorns, it will work with drops since you get so much more leverage with horns.

edit: What the hell?

I thought the same thing. That's what happens when you read too many magazines before you get into cycling. Somebody should email him and offer to sell him a powertap

Weird, I saw that ad when it was listed and then went back to look for the listing and it wasn't there.

Yes, some of the Bauer stuff was great and for 60bucks that is a great deal but I would bet that it is gone by now. A 62cm bike is too big for me, darnit.

I think he is a shop, but not 100%.

Anyone else get the MEC credit note email? I have lost my info & was wondering if it’s worth a call to them?
Cheers

I_bRAD 03-16-07 10:14 AM

What's a MEC credit note email?

I did get a dividend from them at the end of last year... which was nice 'cause I was unemployed at the time Wohoo 92 bucks. Then I realized how much I must have spent to get $92 back.

This credit note contains information about patronage dividends allocated to you. Your patronage dividend is the surplus that MEC has returned to you, in proportion to the amount of money you spent at MEC in the year(s) indicated. In turn, as per MEC Rules, your patronage dividend has been applied to the purchase of additional shares in the Co-op.

I guess i have 28.05 more of whatever in 2005.

Keith,

Can you order me a 15 tooth (14 is ok if that's all that's available) bmx freewheel for my ss? I don't need super high quality, since I might switch it up if I don't like the gear ratio.

2wheelsgood 03-16-07 10:44 AM

how'd you get a dividend? i've been a member for almost ten years and spent thousands of dollars there!

Oh man I have had like 8 different queen songs stuck in my head constantly since tuesday when I went to see a dress rehearsal for 'We Will Rock You!' the musical by Queen and Ben Elton with some coworkers (one of them won 4 tickets by calling CHUM FM).

Its a kind of magic that bites the dust, and I just can't handle it... So don't stop me now cuz I just want to break free. goo goo ga ga etc.

is this credit redeemable for cash? i probably spent $300 there in the last year, but i use my mom's membership, so she'll be getting the credit. oh well, i suppose she helps enough with tuition and digging me out of my financial holes.

Just in case anyways curious

I_bRAD 03-16-07 12:17 PM

As I understand it, for the MEC thing every time you buy something you get more shares in the company. At the end of the fiscal period, they calculate everyone's shares and those with the highest get "bought out" to bring them down to a pre-determined maximum amount of shares.

You have to spend a LOT of money to get anything back. Like roughly the top 2% of their customers I think.
