Yep v-brake levers work with canti brakes decently.

V-bake levers pull more cable than canti levers, so you might need to set up your brake cable 'looser' than if you were running them with a canti lever, this is just so that the point in which the brake engages is in a comfortable spot and not right at the start of the lever movement.

You wont have as much power or modulation, but they'll still stop you.

If you are using v-brakes with canti levers, then you'll run into the problems. You need to use a device to amplify the cable travel of the lever. In this case you're better off just getting the correct lever.

Whats wrong with this weather?

operator 02-17-07 01:40 PM

When I have to put on 30 layers of clothes to go 5km :) Went for a short ride around town last night and drivers are seem even less patient than when it's warm/nice outside.

Well, nothing really. I ride to work in weather like this, but my Orbea (pictured in money shot) stays warm at home.

Danhalen 02-17-07 03:45 PM

Hey Robin how late are you guys open tonight? If it's 5 I won't make it. If it's 6 then I'll try and stop by. ROCK AND ROLL. ahem.

OT: I'm replacing my dual 17" CRT with either a dual LCD or CRT +1 setup. Any recommendations either way? Looking for either dual 22" Widescreen or dual 20" CRT + 19" 3rd monitor. Space is not an issue, neither is heat or power consumption.

Tires (Hutchinson Fusion Long Distance) are great...most of the time. They last forever when they last. Some times they last me 3000+ kms. Some times they last me 200. Over all I'm very impressed. They failed on me twice, but that is because I carelessly ran over large pieces of glass that cut them wide open. I've used them on my track (though they are a little too expensive to be skidding on), and my road bike. They are really light too for a long distance tire. Great for road bike touring.

I'm going to get the regular Fusions next time (becasue they are like 10g lighter!). Still, at the super light weight of the Fusion Long Distance, they are amazing! I keep buying them.

Dan: We're open til 6! Hurry! Or we're open tomorrow from 12-5

Ok well tomorrow it is. Laziness won out tonight. I might be going to Dance Cave tonight. Woot. There are many reasons why that is a good thing. None of these reasons have anything to do with college girls. Oh wait maybe they do.

The rossin is amazing. Think if I owned it I’d hang it on the wall half the time & ride it the other half of course.
Super sexy.

Hey Keith, what do you have in terms of 16t 1/8 cogs, any Dura-Ace?

Soma and Dura-ace in 1/8 16t.

cavernmech 02-18-07 10:17 AM

Just one question. Since you are running it brakeless, why don't you use the original Rossin fork? That fork is hands down the nicest riding, stiffest track fork I have ever had. And it matches the paint scheme. Not that it doesnt look hot...but it would be hotter with the Rossin fork.

I have one on my Aluminum Rossin that I don't want to part with. I would wager that La Bicicletta has a NOS one that someone replaced with a carbon drilled. Unicrown straight blade with Columbus MAX tubing....very nice. I cant get my pics sized small enuf or I would post a pic for ya.
