Ford's a media loving blow hard. I'm thinking about PE tonight but browsing the CMW guide there seems to be better stuff at better venues to see. Plus I just don't know if I can handle flav anymore after his reality TV tour of visual doom.

Cavern, is there a safety meeting going on this afternoon/evening?

i wonder if was him that i had a little chat with the other day after getting buzzed by a car trying to race a streetcar... i asked the driver whether he was trying to kill me, only to be told to "share the road".

what "safety and advocacy board" is that?

TRaffic Jammer 03-09-07 01:08 PM

I'd pay 30bones to hear Chuck D. speak but.... not the Docks...say it ain't so.
I'm still so livid, i'm afraid of what I might dispatch to our Mr Ford.

You don't want to go to the safety and advocacy board. They are INSANE over there. Some real characters that do nothing but harp on a chord for as long as I have been visiting there. On the plus side, I have been labeled as a sociopath by some frequent posters. Think like 10 dutrets that don't get along with eachother, and thats pretty much it.

TJ and I will occasionally chime in with some crap that generally makes them angry. TJ especially since he regales them with his stories of MTL messing in the Truman presidency era.

20", maybe if she had Indiana Jones style riser blocks on her pedals and a flipped around 120mm stem.

That sounds like the greatest bike in the universe.

However the SS MTB I'm offering up is not mine. Thusly, it is a 17.5 (I think). But you know, carry on with the jokes about my height. I actually enjoy it in a "let's see if anyone can come up with something so good that I will include it in my memoirs" kind of way. That's right, I'm writing my memoirs. Oh yeah.

But of course.

Thanks. I have no idea where the problem lies. How's this for technical jargon: when I take off the grill, it's the big round speaker-thing that distorts (even at low volumes), not the square speaker-thing above it. They've just been played too loud at too many parties.

an email I just got:

On the ARC mailing list, Wayne Scott had this to say. He's the guy who
successfully lobbied Revenue Canada to allow bike messengers to deduct
their food costs.

I just got off the phone with Rob Ford. He apologized immediately if I or
anyone else was offended by what he is quoted as saying in today's Star.
He says when he read it he realized it didn't come across they way he
meant it.

He says he agrees that transportaion is a major issue for everyone but
that he doesn't know what the answers are.

I ran a few active transport ideas by him that he semed to get and
promised to follow up with him after he is finished trying to spit out his
foot.

Blown woofer. If it is a quality speaker/driver than re-coning is prolly the way to go. If not it will prolly be cheaper and easier to just replace it. if you can remove the offending driver from the cabinet just take that with you...they can suggest a suitable alternative.

Shiznaz 03-09-07 01:29 PM

You probably blew a cone then... Now I always lock the stereo cabinet and hide the remote whenever we have a party because too many stupid jerkfaces like to blow out my speakers. At least they were only ever blown out during keggers (they blew out 2 subwoofer drivers TWICE) where we made enough cash to replace them with better drivers. There is some sketchy audio/speaker store on queen a little east of Dukes on the south side of the street that usually has fairly decent and cheap drivers. Worth a try.

wayne rocks and has done many great things for the cyclists and messengers of Toronto. But this just comes across as politician double-speak and back-pedalling (pun fully intended). So his comment didn't come across as he intended? How was this supposed to come across? So you dont know what the answers are yet dump on the people who actually try to travel/commute in an environmentally responsible way? I dont buy his crummy apology.

shapelike 03-09-07 01:40 PM

cm, how late to safety meetings usually run?

Till we feel safe!? Till the refreshments run out?! Usually at least 8....I am however feeling tremendously unsafe today so prolly like 9ish.

shapelike 03-09-07 01:57 PM

Sweet, I always figured safety would already obtained by the time I got off work. I'll stop in some time w/ my special blend of safety-ifying spirits.

I have subs built in to my speaker boxes. I dunno if they are real 'subs' or not, but they put out enough bass to shake the house. They are probably close to 8 inches diameter. The jerks at the kegger even messed with the equalizer before cranking it up. I think it was drum and bass that did it.

tovi 03-09-07 02:13 PM

Agreed, this is pure politico double-speak.

tovi 03-09-07 02:16 PM

The last time these speakers were really cranked up, at least they did me proud. That party was broken up by the cops, and I went to court for violation of Toronto's "anti-noise" bylaw. Got it dismissed, for the record.

STEEKER 03-09-07 02:22 PM

old bike stuff but still good ( too bad there was water below) http://www.randonneurs.bc.ca/newslet...-etiquette.mpg

TRaffic Jammer 03-09-07 02:25 PM

Looking for drivers handbook reference to overtaking on public roads. Apology not accepted, because he doesn't believe it. His arrogance and throwback attitudes speak volumes.

Shiznaz 03-09-07 02:28 PM

We had the cops show up 3 times in one night before. We had like 100 people in the back yard screaming and yelling, the stereo on full blast with drum and bass and like 30 people on the front porch and people getting in fist fights on the street. We never got shut down though, despite selling beer to minors and such. I can't for the life of me figure out why we got off so easily. I bet the cops just really didn't want to have to break up a party. That must be the biggest hassle! They pretty much just told us to quiet down and bring everyone inside each time.
