Did ya hard sell the kid? "Listen, Timmy, I know that this is more than you want to spend, but think of it this way - the cost of one pack of M&Ms per day, for the next month, will mean the difference between the other kids laughing at your new ride or being envious of your new ride. What's it gonna be, Timmy? M&Ms or Big Man on the Block?

Dad was all about the upgrades. Training wheels and toe clips, right out of the gate.

My goal is for every ride to be a recovery ride. That's working out pretty well actually. 137 miles this week. Good stuff.

Well if we do a "fast" club ride the average speed (ugh!) is typically a few (2-4) MPH faster than a recovery ride. Also recovery rides tend to be flatter. For example a typical non-recovery ride might be 50 miles with 4-5K feet of climbing, while the recovery ride might only have 2K.
It's all good.

No climbing whatsoever and no "we" or "club". So I probably am that much slower than your fast ride.

Today's deep thought while cycling:
"What's the correct plural of apex?"
"Apeces?"
"What's the correct plural of apex?"
"Apeces?"

No, apices. But more and more in English, plurals forms like vertexes and apexes are considered the superior choice. HEATHENS!
