First, five mountains have a single apex.
First and a half, use of apex in the plural is simply an attempt at pretentiousness. I submit that any sentence contorting a topic enough to make a contrived plural seem rational could always be clearer with a different word. I would consider the summits of five mountains.
Second, Websters lists both apexes and apices the proper plural for a word that doesn't need a plural form.
And next to last, any indignation I seem to be showing is, in fact, feigned. I could care less. I could care more. I am about a 2.6 on the care scale.
And finally, no explanation of this was needed, because it's a lot of lions.

We got our first Fuji Transonic into the shop on Friday. We're fighting over who gets to build it. Who will it be? Will it be me?

Froggy Bottoms Pub in Northfield has the best bloody mary's and some really nice outdoor patio space along the river. Makes for a great bicycle cycle destination especially since it's an easy 25 mile ride down (50 mile round trip) from my home along easy rollers and what is generally a crosswind instead of a headwind, but on the occasion I do end up with a headwind/tailwind situation it's always a headwind down and a tailwind home.
That is all.

Finally a google search helped me realize that the polarity was switched and the starter was spinning in the wrong direction. Some idiot had installed the battery backwards.
Of course the idiot mechanic was me. Another life lesson learned.

The boy is stepping up his pro-lion argument agenda. He has moved to two new talking points:
1. You can protect yourself from the sun with a $3 bottle of sunscreen. Try that with a trillion lions.
2. You can block out the sun with a quarter. Try that with one lion, much less a trillion.

I should have done this Sunday. I rode 25 miles with the sun to my left just before noon. I ate lunch in the shade, but still outside. I rode home 25 miles with the sun to my left again just after noon. Burned everywhere, but much worse on the left side. Not a horrible burn, but I really should know better...

Bibs really need to have a mileage rating on the size tag. I've been going through my bibs to figure out which have the best chamois. Yesterday I wore my, now rated, 30 mile bibs for 65.5 miles. I need at least 100 mile bibs. I think I have a pair of 80 mile bibs. I need to get through the rest this week.

Yeah, I got these cheap De Marchis, nice straps, everything was awesome until about mile 40 yesterday. I have 2 pairs of State & Service as well, same chamois as Assos but (Ha!) I was never really impressed. I need to give the Giordanos the test. I never recall them bothering me, the Etxeondo 3/4 I have are pretty good over 50 but when I put them on they feel a bit scratchy...and how does one know when they're suffering from translucent butt-crack? I don't have a full length mirror.

In other words if you're really into the endurance riding thing you might as well be cheap and just suffer?

Not so much. If you ride lotsa miles, you need to find shorts that work for you over those distances. But keep in mind price is not a totally reliable indicator of what is necessary. I've never ridden on Rapha or Assos, but then I have never needed to. I have never had butt hurt with Performance mid-range stuff at 60-100 miles, my upper limit ever. Say what you will, they work for me. Once I am riding the right saddle in the right position, the shorts are essentially not an issue.

Maybe. In my case, I also think it's because most of my rides are 50-75 miles. If I started putting in 100+ mile rides regularly I might learn to adapt to longer rides. Suffering leads to tolerance, so to speak. Maybe.

Yesterday my youngest daughter and oldest daughter participated in triathlons. It was a good day for both of them.
The oldest was in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin for the USAT Junior Elite draft legal race. She finished 39 out of 47 females in that race. While the may not sound like a good finish, her success was that she discovered that there is a whole other level of competition out there and that she needs to start taking training seriously if she wants to get to the top of the sport.
The youngest was at the Leon's triathlon. She won her age group and had a very good day. Her performance was pretty good one.

Awesome, @Doug28450. Getting active young is a great way to stay active for life, and it let's you play with bike stuff perpetually. Win-Win, IMHO.
Excellent, @Doug28450! Good for the girls.
My placing for the youngest was a bit deceptive. She won her age group, but, she was the only one in that group. So, she was 1/1. However, she finished 58/101 for all females. That's not bad for a 12 year old.
