Don't forget Kiss-ree-um and Kriss-ee-yum (from the kind of people who say "noo-kyu-ler").

Big bada boom just outside out the window while we were eating dinner. Heard a big "BOOM!" like a tire blowing, looked outside and saw a Mercedes, bare front rim sparking on the pavement, slam in to a parked car. Ran outside to check on the driver/passenger - two young guys that seemed rather chill for having just experienced an airbag-deploying accident, but the officer says that it was just from being shaken up, not from being high off of their asses (I still have my doubts). Oh, and my neighbors oh-so-nice '14 BMW got side-swiped up on to the curb, too. He was not too happy, both about the car and the fact that he's supposed to be driving it back down to AZ in a couple weeks. Eesh.

In central Texas German and Czech names of the immigrant settling families are often still spelled true to their origins but pronouned as their close sounding English translation. So Koch may be pronounced Cook, and Fuchs as Fox, and Gruen as Green. Kind of a charming custom of respecting both the new and the old. Apparently it has some examples in French as well. I remember the name of the Astros baseball player Scott Servais was pronounced Service. Giro indeed!

I know some have a knack for knocking your knees while wearing your knickers to cycle up to the knoll at knight. If you have a knife in your knapsack to cut off your knitted socks and place them on your knob, then you’ll have the knowledge of how to prevent from knocking your knuckles. Good knight knuckleballs.

Origin of the Name Both words were born out of Italian patriotism following the World Wars. Wilier is an acronym pronounced \’vē-lē-er\. Italians use ‘W’ as an abbreviation for the word “Viva”, which means “Long live”. For example, Italian sports fans will often hold up signs at sporting events that read “W l’Italia”, or that show their support of a specific athlete with signs like “W Ballan” or “W Cunego”. The patriotic phrase, “W l’Italia liberata e redenta” (Long live Italy, liberated and redeemed) gave birth to the acronym W-i-l-i-e-r. Triestina is pronounced \trē-es-tē’-nə\; it is the Italian equivalent of our English word, “triestine,” which implies anything having to do with the Italian city of Trieste on theAdriatic Sea, including a resident (written in uppercase: Triestine). Following World War II, Trieste and its surrounding coastal area remained part of an occupied free territory. Meanwhile, triestine cycling hero and three-time winner of the Giro d’Italia, Giordano Cottur, was competing against contemporary cycling greats Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali. Inspired by Cottur and Trieste’s political plight, Dal Molin put together a team with Cottur as leader, calling it Wilier Triestina.

Almost 5" of rain in the gauge yesterday and more on the way this morning. Anyone out west is welcome to come and get some anytime you wish.
This was a good week to get a head cold due to the crappy weather this week. It will get better.

It stands for: Viva l’Italia liberata e redenta—Long live Italy, liberated and redeemed.
pronounced Vee’-lee-air Tree-es-tee’-na,
But I just say Wilier.
And why am I getting insulted in a thread I never even post in?
