Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Time for a spirited club ride.

Sitting at the kitchen table watching the rain fall, all rides cancelled. It's been relentless this past week, but hopefully will back off soon. We've had almost 10 inches of rain in the past two days and it continues to fall. Time to go to the gym.

I imploded 46 miles into our Saturday group ride. Humidity did me in... again. Even in my racing days, I couldn't ride in high humidity.

Anyway, rode the last 10 miles OTB. Even my wife didn't wait on me.

Whatever you do, avoid the Gulf Coast. Some days you would need gills to ride in Houston.

I've heard that. Same with Florida.

Humidity during my ride fluctuated between 82 and 93%.

Temperature must have been pretty low for that to be the case. You were riding pretty close to the dew point.

Yep, 80s. That's where the humidity gets me, though, when the temp >82 or so and similar dew point. It's 85° at the moment and the humidity has dropped to 74%.

Nope. Still being referred to as "The TT bike" or "The Fuji" for the present. These things cannot be rushed.

It is fast though. I barely spend any time in aero, mostly just noodling around on it right now. Today was my 2nd test ride after tweaking the fit. Without me even trying, it was 1 mph faster. Its supposedly going to be 2mph faster once I am trying and I would actually believe that after today.

Yesterday the thing felt unbearably uncomfortable, got is home and checked the fit against my fit report. Nowhere close, the bumbling shop had supposedly set it up from the report. So got it closer and things were way more comfortable. Still's going to take some time to get used to. But way better today.

It was barely 109 for the high today. They don't even bother with the excessive heat warning until 110

Carbon CX forks are still useful after you've borked one of the canti studs.

The little lady and I rode the tandem down to the vintage baseball game, after getting cheesesteaks and before picking blackberries.

Nice.

The bike shop has an old carbon fork screwed to the wall for holding paper towels.

Yes, but it was a dry heat......

Weather cooperated today and got a nice solo ride in this morning. Some areas are still under water, but no problem getting through.
