Thoughts on this wheelset? Is it even an upgrade?

That's how the 41 rolls.

Look nice and the bike Nazis won't get on you. I was looking at the Vueltas myself. I don't care what other people think. I'm 62. Screw them!

I don't care if they call me Fred Alfred McFredrickson. I already ordered the Corsa Lites and I can't wait to use them.

Good for you! Please post back after you've ridden them for awhile. I'd like to hear what you think.

I've run the HD's for some time because of my weight (240+ pounds.) In fact I have three sets of them, the oldest having somewhere between 5-7K miles. They roll very fast and ride much lighter than they are...until you pick up the bike. I tried one set of the "Lights" and broke a rear spoke at just over 1500 miles. At that time the spoke holes in the hub were no longer round so I didn't fix them. They were true and tight out of the box (which is what I've become use to from this company) but unlike the HD's did require some truing from time to time.
I think after a bunch of research, I've decided I'm going to get the Corsa Lites and not the SLRs. With my weight, I fear issues with the SLRs, whereas everyone says the Lites are very strong and there's no flex in them, I've heard some problems with SLRs with heavier riders (over 180 lbs). It's 100g more, but I'd rather add 100g and not bust a spoke or get the wheel out of true.
I'm bummed I figured this out today though, as Nashbar doesn't have the 20% off anymore. Guess I'll have to wait for another sale or 25% off coupon.

Will do. I think the old ones still look good! The graphics are a little flashy, yes, but the rim isn't tall enough for it to be too much on the eyes, IMHO.

I have the newer Vuelta Corsa SLR and to me the graphics are too understated. Someone in the club has the older wheels and I personally like the louder look.
In the end, when you are on the bike, you can't see the graphics so what does it matter.

Here's a slightly grainy close-up pic of the rear wheel. You can really only see the VUELTA CORSA when you're up close.

FYI, you can edit the photo after first posting it to enlarge it significantly. Just click on "Edit Post", double click the photo and select the size you want.

I forgot to mention... I don't know if the rim is not as wide as my Bontragers or something, but it seems I need to pull my brake lever harder to engage my brakes now, and I don't like it. Is adjustment of the calipers usually necessary when changing wheels?

Did you open the brake release tabs when removing the old wheels and then maybe forget to close them?
I don't remember the rim width being any different between the Bontragers and Vueltas on my bike, but you can adjust them wit the barrel adjusters, or just release the cable clamp and tighten it up if you're out of play in the adjuster.

I may have knocked something during install or something and loosened them up I guess.

Sure, it is very common to need to adjust the brake caliper spread when switching out wheels unless all your rims are identical. Just like it is common to have to adjust the rear derailleur cable length unless all your hubs are identical. Easy enough to do.

Just got a 25% off at Nashbar and ordered the Vuelta Corsa Lites for $194.99. They have got to be better than the Chariot Wheels I've been riding from the 16th century.

I don't know. If the red was brighter I don't know how it would look with the yellow decals on your bike. I have some Bontrager Race Lites that are very subdued and they look OK. Nice looking bike, by the way!
