Coffee
I'm interested in opinions on caffeine (coffee). I spent my life avoiding caffeine for various reasons, but a big one was that I always felt like an artificial stimulant would rob my body and better energy comes from proper diet and excercise. A couple years ago I started drinking Yerba Mate and I really enjoy it. This year I had a cup of coffee for the first time in my life (i'm 32 years old). I didn't like it, ... but then the memory was good and a few cups later I am now a big fan. So now I drink one or two cups a day 3 or 4 times a week. I'm debating if I want to drop it again because i'm not a fan of caffeine effects but I like the flavor.
So the real question is a small poll. Who likes coffe and who doesn't?

Don't like it, don't drink it. The last thing I need is a stimulant. If you knew me better, you'd know why.

Mmm, coffee. I drink coffee from sun up until mid afternoon at which point I cut caffeine completely and switch to water.

I like coffee and drink it almost everyday. One french press will last me from 7am until 10pm. Unless I drink the press rapidly on an empty stomach I do not notice the effects of caffeine.
I've spent years finding my favorite way to make coffee and then I've stuck to it. I can rarely enjoy a cup that I didn't make. I drink since I enjoy the taste and flavor. It's like a good wine, beer, or whiskey.

Why? Is a majority vote going to change the way that you feel about it? If you like it, just like it. If you don't like the effect of caffeine, try decaf (which still has caffeine, but a lot less of it) and see if that floats your boat.

I don't like drinking coffee. That's why I take a coffee enema every morning.

I like coffee. This article helps explain why it's good and how it can be bad for riding.

I can't say that I've ever really noticed any effect from caffeine in the past, but I figure why bother if I like decaf just fine? I drink a lot of coffee, but only decaf for this reason.

I totally gave up caffeine for a while until I discovered that the diet Sunkist that I've been drinking at my Dad's house actually had caffeine in them the whole time and I really had not been caffeine free. I have an addictive personality (or whatever) and I've given up alcohol (love craft beer) and started trying to develop a taste for better coffee prior to giving up caffeine.
The effort to develop my coffee geek got pretty out of hand before I quit and I never really developed a great sense of differentiating coffees. Yeah, I like a nice pour over and I can tell the difference between coffee from my little Hario ceramic grinder and Aeropress from the freeze dried crap they drink out of the coffee machine at work. I was just never able to really develop a sense for it like I did for beer. I think it's harder because the same beans can be roasted differently to produce a totally different taste maybe idk. I was even looking at getting a nice ceramic burr grinder for home before I gave up on it.
I liked being relatively caffeine free, but I've been having a hard time not dozing off at work in the afternoons and have been drinking more very recently. I have no idea how it impacts my cycling. I know cyclists seem to be really into their caffeine products. I've avoided the caffeine infused energy products until now.

Cheaper than the BB&B options. Great source for green beans, too, if you roast your own. Which everyone should try at least once if they like coffee, it's pretty fun.

I like coffee!
I am fully aware that coffee is a drug. But so are many of the foods, spices, herbs, etc. in our diets. So I pick and choose what I use and when I use them. I like a strong coffee in the morning.... or after a long bicycle ride. It seems harmless enough. But I know I could be mistaken. I don't recommend coffee for performance enhancement or anything.

I love coffee. I drink about 1.5L to 2L of it a day. My espresso machine gets quite a workout every day.
I recently, however, switched to decaf. It was a terrible couple months during the transition (half-caf then to decaf) that I had constant headaches, couldn't sleep right and my hands trembled. I switched because I was having significant issues with my hands shaking and getting headaches on the weekend when I didn't have an adequate caffeine intake early enough in the day (since I'd be out of my work-day regimen). I now have a terrible reaction to caffeinated coffee and cola - though tea leaves me largely unaffected.
I don't regret switching to decaf but I am always disappointed by the much greater selection of coffees available with caffeine vs. decaf.
I can, now, wake up on a Saturday morning with a glass of orange juice or water with breakfast with no ill effects of skipping a coffee.

Kit doesn't match
Love coffee. When I was in graduate school I decided that coffee owned me, so I went through the pain of quitting.
A few weeks later I decided that life was just plain better with coffee, so I'll drink it until I'm dead. Yum.

Doesn't seem to affect my ability to fall asleep and I love the taste. I am not a snob about brands, but I definitely prefer a really nice fresh ground espresso over drip brew, and if it's drip brew I can't drink the flavored stuff like French Vanilla or Hazlenut or whatever. I don't think I've gone on a ride without some caffeine in my system for 2 or 3 years now.
I will also say that I miss the cheap cuban coffee I was able to get anywhere while in Miami. A cortadito is basically a little super-sugary shot of espresso with foamed milk. You could get one for a dollar or less at gas stations with espresso bars.

Say what?! Man, what did you go through in beans per week? I'm at one or two lattes per day while my wife is at one per day; between the two of us, it's about 12oz in beans per week.

I like ice coffee in the heat so I make coffee cubes in the freezer and then make a press or do a poor over into a mug filed with coffee cubes.
@bt I think that the serving size of the french press is not the same as our idea of a serving size.
