i dont have any bills or payments that defaulted and have gone to collections, i have good credit and i monitor it very well, i pay everything ahead of time. nothing has been opened in my name that i dont know about either.

i just find it very shady that she hung up immediately right after she concluded she knew who i was, despite the fact i never answered her question. what would her knowing who is on the other end of the phone matter enough just to hang up after?

i should start calling her back every day to screw with her.

Earlier in the year I got a collection notice in the mail from an outfit representing FedEx shipping. I looked into it and could not determine if it was legit or not. I tossed it aside and figured if it was, I would hear back from them. To date I have heard nothing about it.

My wife and I rode our tandem in "hill country" in NW Illinois at Galena. 35.6 miles and over 2700 feet of climbing.

That too. :)

Negative brain MRI and spinal tap (that's a good thing) for the cat. I'm happy to report she will live to mouse another day.

Very rewarding surgery in the little doxie. His name is Gunther and he's a cutie pie.

Heh, mine's at least smart enough to just let me do whatever and not ask questions about money.

How much was your new (insert bike part here), I never saw a charge come through on the credit card?
I used Paypal, got a good deal, no worries.
Ok.

Lifelock ftw. Of course the annual fee is somewhat more than you would likely lose to identity theft.

Mumonkan 10-05-15 06:24 PM

i always lied to my ex about bike spendatures. she thought a bike for $200 was a lot of money, so i sure as **** wasnt about to tell her about a stem that costs half as that. lol.

current SO doesnt care, as long as it makes me happy shes ok with it

SpeshulEd 10-05-15 06:26 PM

Yeah, mine freaked on the idea of a $15k Colnago ...probably for the best though.

@Bunyanderman, SATs good luck. Math is your thing?

I sure hope it is, a lot of it comes natural to me, but that doesn't mean I don't take advantage of studying and prep work. All of the SAT math problems are Algreba ll based, which is a something that should be easy if you are taken Calc ll this year. But the math is difficult due to the way they word the problems, quite tricky.

My wife is well aware of the cost of bike parts and accessories and doesn't care what I spend as long as I buy two of everything so she can get her share. :D

I guess it depends on field sizes. The SS fields here are still about 30 deep here, so not too huge. Maybe more people would race SS if there weren't so many 1s, 2s, and 3s riding it.

The biggest cross series around here doesn't start 'til this weekend, will have to see what kinda fields they get.

There was a Fat Bike race too.

Here, the poor fatbikers have to run in SS or cat/agegroup of their choice. I got beat by one once. I was a little ill and slow, tho :)

The fatbikers were combined with the open women's field yesterday. Both the men's and the women's open fields were small; half a dozen riders or less.

I guess I could SSCX on the Yokota Terminator. Should probably get a BMX freewheel and ditch the derailleur first, though. I already have the awesomest pink chainring for it, just gotta get some SS chainring bolts and then figure out the magic ratio.

I was going to say do you want to trade wives. But that wouldn't solve a single thing. Not one.

Actually, there's nothing to solve. Except that buying two things at a time business. That can get a tad expensive.

Hey, I found that extra VAR tire tool. It's yours if you want to pay shipping to the under side of the world. :)

There was a short, skinny guy on a fatbike. He looked like a junior MTB racer on that thing.

My father-in-law was always a cyclist, so my wife grew up with it and understands me. However, he's also a penny-pincher and rode the same aluminum bike for something like 20 years until he happened upon a carbon bike on CL for a stupid low price and bought that maybe 10 years ago. So she does NOT understand all the money I spend. Yeah... But as long as I try to keep my bike purchases at a relatively zero sum situation, she's happy. For example: I went back to the bike shop building bikes on the weekend to offset the cost of the new frame and some parts for the Crockett.

BillyD 10-06-15 07:36 AM

Cycling doesn't have to be expensive once you're past the initial investment phase. But it's the improvement-itis, upgrade-itis, and n+1-itis phases of the addiction that really take a toll on the finances . . . and relationships.

BillyD 10-06-15 07:39 AM

I'm kind of cheap, myself. (The wife agrees.) I've been dreaming about outfitting my Merlin with some Campy Record which I feel it so richly deserves, but I have trouble pulling the trigger on it. WTF, the ultegra works just fine.

I actually like the circa 2010-2011 Centaur 10 speed on the Bianchi more than the DA9000 on the Domane. The only think I really, really like on DA9000 has to be the brakes. They are crazy good.
