_____________ Today is my wife and my 2 year anniversary. We're going out to some fancy restaurant that she picked out and won't tell me the name of, but she is going to let me pay. |

There a race in your neighborhood later this month. https://www.bikereg.com/syracuse-gp--power-cross #justsaying |
Lost my cadence sensor magnet off the crank arm on my single speed while out on a gravel ride yesterday. I was half tempted to grab the super strong magnet off the fridge and drive out to where the sensor data dropped off to see if I could find it, but decided it wasn't worth it.
I also had an encounter with three large dogs. It was a collie, a pit bull, and a white furry thing. The pit was doing this half jumping thing as it ran toward me lifting it's front legs off the ground as it ran. It looked playful but at the same time it looked like it was trying to make itself look larger. I don't know, not a dog person. I stopped and tried to reason with them, but they weren't having it so I sternly told them to go lay down. Their first reaction was to half turn around to go lay down, but then they realized I wasn't their master and they went back to barking at me. So, I slowly rode off. They only chased to the edge of their property. That's the only downside to gravel riding. Country folk don't leash their dogs. One dog isn't very intimidating, but when they get into small groups they seem to be a little more brazen. |

LAJ, I totally know what you're saying with the jealous cycling spouse. It's the kiss of death for anyone who loves cycling and quite honestly for the relationship as well. Lucky lucky lucky those of us who don't have to contend. Good for the supportive spouse too, you're more likely to go out of your way to do things for them too. That's the amazing true story behind how Mr H got a delicious grilled PB & J made for him last night after he said he wasn't hungry and wasn't going to have dinner but reconsidered when he saw my grilled PB & J and how delicious it appeared. ;) Small things.

Reminds me of the Chris Rock joke describing how all fathers (dads, husbands) get for their sacrifices is the big piece of chicken at dinnertime. |

Speaking of pet peeves, don't you hate it when the shipping on a small, lightweight item costs 2 - 3 times what the item costs?
That really toasts my buns! |

If you have speed, you don't need cadence on an SS. They are linear. Just sayin.

Rare Earf Magnet on the pedal spindle.

That's exactly right, Heathpack. Lots of give and take, but things like that make it work.

Wait a minute. Are you saying that what Mr H gets in return for his outstanding devotion and altruism is a grilled PB&J sammich?

Hey. CX events have a special race for single speeds these days. You could throw some knobbies on the Felt....

My back has bothered me since 10:50 am on July 25th 2015 when I was doing this hill on the SS. https://www.strava.com/activities/35...nts/8423351608
The last couple weeks have been progressively worse and it was getting painful to sit or even lay down on my side. I've been working on stretching and rebuilding strength, but hasn't seemed to help a whole lot. I've been to the chiropractor multiple times, but this morning I hit up the chiro to buy some crack and the pain level dropped significantly. Hopefully this stupid back injury is on its way out. Edit: I see it doesn't link to the segment in question. It was orlando @ dawn where the grade hits >13%. I was standing up and pushing down with my legs while pulling up with my arms when my spine voiced a complaint. |

Crazy day:
1. One of my two nurses out (death in family) 2. Only one intern & her first day on the neuro service 3. Three pick-ups from the emergency service, total of 12 seizures between the three animals in the last 24 hours 4. My train was late, making me 45 minutes late to work 5. My computer cannot connect to the server, meaning I cannot view my schedule, messages or any radiographic images without going elsewhere in the hospital 6. My elective MRI for today that was supposed to be rescheduled for tomorrow never got rescheduled 7. A paralyzed dachshund has come in, I can for sure do the surgery but I have no one to anesthetize it (because one nurse is out & the other is tied up doing the elective MRI) 8. There is a nurse from the surgery dept who is free but she's sick and was hoping to go home early. Sorry, no, the little Doxie surgery has got to go now. Emergency. Despite all that, it is all kind of under control. All the owners have been called and no one has seizured since I've gotten here. The cat is doing fine in MRI. The Doxie will be under anesthesia shortly. And there's only one phone message that remains unanswered. :) |
Do you ever make 'cat scan' jokes?

Single dogs don't seem too intimidating, but get a few together and they take on the pack mentality. Sorta like people - braver and more aggressive in a bunch.

It's so nice to have a SO that understands bike life...to an extent, anyway.
