Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bill was only $65 and honestly the company loses money on us preparing these returns. 99% of the time the client doesn't supply us with the current year property tax statement and much of the time we don't know if they're getting a refund or not until after we enter all the data. So, we have to go online to the county web site and pull the statement then pull up their return and enter the data.

If they are getting a refund then we process the return and bill them if not... we're SOL and just wasted our time. ...but, hey, at least we took the time to see if our client was eligible and sometimes we get them money. Money they probably wouldn't have even thought about had I not taken the time.

Haha. that just shows you how its all a matter of perspective. I look at that video and I think "how awesome is that?" You look at the video and cringe a little.

He's so far ahead of the curve that he going to want to be running around before his staples come out. The worst part of this whole thing for him is not going to be the surgery, its going to be taking it easy for 6 weeks until he's all healed up. 90% of dogs are like that. Major spinal surgery: shrug. Rest for 6 weeks post-op: big-time drama.

I'll try to take a video when he comes back in 2 weeks to get his staples out. He'll look way less wonky then.

Oh yeah and I just got a phone call that I'm being subpoenaed for a court case.

A leashed dachshund living in a retirement community with this little old man owner gets attacked by a off-leash mini poodle owned by a little old lady living in the same retirement community. Disc herniation ensues necessitating spinal surgery for the dachshund who is now back to normal. Little old man is now suing little old lady and I'm getting subpoenaed over it. Yay.

Sorry little old lady, you get no sympathy from me. If your mini poodle is on a leash and under your control, she can do no other dog harm. But if you let your dog run off-leash and its not under your control, then too bad you are responsible for what might happen should your dog decide to run amok.

" It's the transition from seated to standing that gives me trouble."

Careful you don't stretch that too often or too much while it's inflamed. In my back it usually means disc bulge acting up and there's inflammation that gets worse when overstretched.

Otherwise I stretch 2x /day 20 min to keep it tolerable.

Getting ready to ride. Looks like a perfect early fall day, mixed clouds/sun and temps in the low 60's. I will do my best to enforce a civilized fall pace.

Very busy day at work yesterday, did I miss anything??

Right? I mean great for him that he got off not having to pay for it for the last several years since my predecessor was too lazy to do the billing, but don't get mad at me that I'm charging you a pittance for my time.

Yeah, so I started a load in the dishsanitizer this morning and the top sprayer still isn't getting any water. I guess I have to open up another maintenance ticket. All he did was clean it as expected. So damn frustrating.

I've been doing 15 minutes of stretches before I even get out of bed and turn on the light. This morning was an improvement over yesterday. Small improvement, but I'll take it.

Oh, also... the maintenance guy was telling my wife how he always does a super duper thorough rinse (basically wash) prior to using his dishwasher and he's had his for FOURTEEN years now. He must be single because even I would be annoyed at that level of cheapness. After that many years he's costing himself money since a new one would save him money just on efficiency alone.

It's not like a dishwasher is a major expense!

^his water bill must be awesome.

typically stretching is most beneficial once your muscles are already warmed up, iirc stretching "cold" muscles can actually lead to damage

try some yoga, i have a back thats jacked up from sitting in chairs all day at work and a transient excruciating hip "thing" - it seems to help a lot.

dat downward facing dog, so good.

I just replaced ours with a Samsung. Prior one lasted 10 years with some minor repairs and rinsing dishes a bit before hand.

They're easy to replace. Might be worth buying your own if you'll be there a while.

He should just get rid of his dishwasher. Think of the savings!

Also, he could use the extra space to store his used Kleenex collection.

There is no supers apartment. It's a three building complex with a separate office/pool and a full time manager and staff who work there and live offsite.

My dad used to bring home rolls of industrial paper towels from work. He was in the shipping and receiving department so it was his job to ship things home. Anyway, they were really nice paper towels and you could actually throw them in the washing machine and reuse them. Which he did. Multiple times. Because why waste paper towels you stole.. err umm... shipped from work?
