I droped the hamer on my bike today... is my frame going to fail?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is one way. I personally prefer the method of taking it for a spin around your usual three mile loop and recording. I find the measurements to be much more accurate. That is how I measure my wheels spin-up speed as a function of valve cap tightness.

Or just ride at high speed on the roughest surfaces you can tolerate. If the frame fails, vertical compliance was probably compromised too much.

On today's ride I saw some guy out riding with his 10 year old kid. Needless to say, I droped the hamer and blew right past them. When I was in front I gave them "the look" and cut a big fart. It smelled like victory!

(No little girls were hit during the ride)

But then you will not be aware of upcoming potholes or little girls, and might hit them.

Yes. Unless USPS guy had been racing there was no way he was going to match my speed. If you guys don't hear from me for a while, it's probably because I've had a catastrophic frame failure due to poor sunscreen application on my dented crabon tube and too many watts from my guads.

Thus ends my cautionary tale on droping the hamer.

To know how it smelled, you would need to go slower than the tailwind...

What I was thinking. Maybe OP damaged the frame some other way but saw an opportunity for a great thread potential so he blamed his hamer which may have never been droped at all.

If he kept it in the saddle scrotum it would have been fine too.
