That reminds me of a woman that I used to work with ~15 years ago. Seemingly daily, she would announce that she had lost X pounds, but would always get lunch from fast food places and drink a lot of soda. I felt like slapping her and saying "NET! How much did you lose NET? -20lbs??!"

In the first photo the guys are in a position where it looks for certain he's going to lose his fish if he doesn't do something.

In the second photo we see the result of the juke move, which has created good separation from the perpetrator. He kept chasing for a while but eventually threw in the towel.

It's really kind of surprising that an eagle would expend the high energy required to chase down and steal another guys meal when, given the conditions and opportunities present that day, he could have simply waited relatively briefly for the next fish to come by. It's not like in the winter when there's a scarcity of food, these guys in this location are living high off the hog . . . er, shad.

I did 82 minutes this morning with my club and I hate trainers. I'm doing it because my wife wanted to but I think she is starting to see why I detest misery contraptions.

I've decided that I really don't like the shop at the car dealership that we've been going to.

A couple of weeks ago, when we took it in for an oil change, the liaison mentioned, in an off-hand manner, "oh, it looks like a clamp came loose on the CV boot. We'll just throw a new clamp on it for you." They evidently didn't do that because this week, after bringing it back in to have the oil pan gasket fixed (under warranty), they're like, "oh, take a look at this CV boot; the clamp came loose and you can see some of the grease that has spun out of it. It's hard to say how long it's been like this or how much grease you've lost, but we'd recommend pulling the wheel, replacing the boot, etc, etc. That'll be $400." GFY.

Phenomenal midweek club ride today. We had an even dozen riders and everyone was feeling the love. Sunny weather and no wind. Starting temps around 50 but quickly warmed up into the 60's, I pitched my vest and leg warmers at the rest stop and rode the rest of the ride with just a short sleeve jersey and shorts. Beautiful fall weather, civilized but not slow pace, good course with some nice rollers. 100% fun. Want more.

I hate mechanics.

Once a motor vehicle goes out of warranty I generally don't take it back to the dealer for service. There is an auto repair shop within walking distance. They do very good work and I have never felt that they wanted to do repairs that were not required. At the same time, they have made repairs that were needed, but not related to the reason I took the vehicle in. They called before hand to discuss the issue and provided options and when asked they provide their recommendation. Which is generally not the most expensive option.

Same. I always go to a nearby shop that I trust and if the work falls under warranty I then take it the warranty shop. Otherwise I have my guy take care of it.

I still hate mechanics.

Eagles are notorious for stealing from others, which I hear is one reason Ben Franklin preferred the turkey over the eagle as the national symbol. Others at the time, considering what they were doing to the indigenous population, thought the eagle would be perfectly appropriate.

To be honest, I don't even post my best stuff online here. I mean, I trust you regulars, but you never know who's lurking. This site is wide open, free to the entire online world.

I'll tell you what makes me so leery: A few years ago the Foo forum held an ongoing photo contest with monthly awards and all. I caught this one guy who was regularly posting high quality pictures from someone else's portfolio. Something caught my eye as suspicious, and when I probed with a couple of questions he promptly disappeared, never to return, yet probably resuming his fraud elsewhere.

Needless to say there's a lot of fraud on the internet. Although I'm not in this for the money at the moment, I hate the thought of some lowlife stealing my stuff, and some day I may want to sell some of my work to keep up with the latest and greatest equipment as it comes out.
