Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just to let everyone know, I absolutely hate myself. I find myself mentioning "back when I worked at the shop" like every other post. I'm such an a-hole.

I suppose I can't be sure. I've never tasted rat turds.

Whoa. Your wife is in the last month of pregnancy, not you. YOU have to be the rock.

Better get your act together there, buster.

Don't be so hard on yourself. At least you are speaking from personal experience when you do so.

Many(most?) here just spew opinions based on something they read somewhere.

Quick question: back when you worked at the shop, did you ever snap counterfeit handlebars with your bare hands?

As per War Games, when it comes to the 41, the only way to win the game is not to play.

We kept a few counterfeit bars in the back and would snip pieces off between two fingers, then we'd put them in a bowl with some milk and eat them for breakfast.

So, in one of the other forums, I got in to a slightly abrasive tete a tete with an individual, nothing serious. I get emails every time someone quotes me and I got up in the middle night for some personal hygiene business and there's this insulting post. I go to the forum and there is nothing there. I assume the poster had posting remorse which is nice since he deleted it because I really didn't wish things to escalate and I wouldn't have replied. Still, it's funny that i saw what he posted via email.

Fair warning that just because you delete a snarky post, the intended victim may get it anyway via email.

Yes, and the above is why I should know better than to stray away from the 'Addiction' one. Here, everyone is goofy and rarely serious. In other places, people get wound up over some silly things.

One thing I've always found amusing is the weird "unknown other" sense you always get on one forum when referring to other competing forums for a particular interest. It's basically verbotten to link to a road bike review thread, and it is the same way on other special interest forums. Or maybe I'm just imagining that.
