Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Woo, excel. Showing your age there.

I have a bluetooth scale that auto links into my fitness pal and apple health on my phone. These in turn link directly into strava. The only manual entering I do is on zwift. I literally just open the scale app on my phone, and stand on the scale in the morning. I'm done with data input/analysis at that point. If I care to, I'll look at the plots, but that's not too often.

This is the scale I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o06_s00

Power targets are more precise as far as what exactly they are measuring. But even power numbers as far as targets go are squidgy. Your power output depends on a lot of factors too. I had to come out of my aero position for 3 minutes of my second 30-min interval, I needed to engage different muscles and get some of the lactic acid out of my quads. Those three minutes of coming up onto the base bar and my power goes up 5 watts and my HR drops 5 bpm. Just way easier to output power in that position (for me).

Really power is not power, either. Well, it is, as far as what you measure. But as far as what you can sustain- that depends on a whole lot of factors too.
Holy crap, I notice the power/HR differences in different positions just from the fake zwift power I have at my disposal. Sitting up is easy 7bpm penalty over the hoods. I get a couple more down on the drops. I would like to try aero bars hooked up to power to see if the trend continues...

I'm completely unmotivated to ride after my last FTP test. I set out to increase my FTP. I did the program, and I got increased FTP out of it. Mission Accomplished.

I'm a little sick and a little sore after the test, and I don't know what to do next. Working late doesn't help, either.

I'm just wandering aimlessly. Where do I go from here?

Congratulations on increasing your FTP.

Beer's not on my diet, and I'm broke

All I have is my bike, right now.

Edit: things could be much worse, Don't mistake my banter for depression.

Maybe. My training plan for 2016 mainly involves trying to keep up with some of the biker gangs that roam the area.

so im still awake 2 hrs past when i normally pass out. from this i can draw some possible conclusions:

1) 3 pm was too late for triple espresso
B) triple espresso was too much, better try double tomorrow
6) i should continue shoveling caffiene down my mouth until i would normally be waking up tomorrow morning
4) i dont know how to count
