Clean Di2 Intalls?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Clean Di2 Intalls?

*Installs*

Is there already a thread for this? (If so my search-fu can't find it).

I've got a 2014 Domane 5.9 (Ultegra Di2). Honestly the way the LBS installed the junction box/wires in front of the handlebars is garbage. I've seen some nice installs with the new Di2, but I can't manage to position the controller under my Garmin mount due to wiring geometry. Show me some clean installs!

Bdop has a di2 genie thing...
Computer and Other Mounts-Di2 GENIE

Most people I see just rubberband them to the stem.

Under the stem is probably the most common way, unless you have a way to hide it in the frame. My Dogma has it tucked under the stem, but my Bolide has a compartment in the frame for it.

Cleanest is built for it. So Look 795. New groupo - bar end.

I've installed 5. I used a glue gun for under the stem.
I had an option for under the saddle, but decided it was not practical for real world racing use without having a spare bike.

I'd take a look at the new DA Di2 (9100) group when it comes out. My bet is that the bar end junction box is backwards compatible. If you have a bar with internal routing and a new wiring harness for that part, should work. Also includes a charging port - really nice idea.

That bar-end option is slick; I wonder if it would be backwards compatible to older Di2? My junction box is zip-tied to the brake cable, so it doesn't even seat under the stem.

So for clarity, I have this junction box with my Ultegra Di2, which is zipped tied to one of the brake cables in front:

As opposed to this one, which I see on most bikes now:

This latter one seems to be mountable under the stem/computer mount.

What's the difference? Could I swap mine out for the newer one?

I believe it should be backwards compatible to Ultegra 6800, DA 9000. The connections are a parallel connection. You would probably need a different length wire to get to and from the bar end junction box.

I have the ziptied one too...only after a few years the zipties have broken. It is currently just flopping around, but my plan is to take a strip of velcro and velcro it to the underside of the stem.

I've got extra zip ties you can have if you don't mind riding to California.

Just redid the brake housing and junction box this weekend. Sure seems like a kludge design.

Haha, I ran out of black ones, but a ride to California sounds like fun!

I redid my brakes this weekend as well. Yokozuna housing doesn't agree with the internal cable routing ports on my cannondale, grumble, grumble, grumble...

It's not pending, i've had eTap since February.

For Di2, check out some of the "Pro" bike videos and pictures from this years TdF. I'm sure the pro teams have very tidy installations.
