Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Selling stuff on facebook really brings out the liars. Seriously.

I'm selling some pro one tires (still in the box) for less than I paid for them at MERLIN (dirt cheap, and takes at least a week to get to you)... and now I've got some guy swearing up and down he can get them for $32/ea at his local shop. Seriously, that's half the street price in the US on these things.

Yeah, it's just not even worth it for small stuff like that. Unless you're looking at over 100 bucks, you'd be better off just giving them to a friend rather than deal with the BS of selling stuff online.

There's a pretty active group here dedicated to bikes and bike parts. You have to get approved to join the FB group, but once you're in you can see any of the listings. Basically just post something with pics and a price, and then the person messages you with a time/place to meet up. Since it's local and requires approval to join, it's relatively free of scammers. I've sold some things over the years there without issue. Beats Ebay because no transaction costs!

The only answer is to tell him to go to the local shop and buy them.

I had two calls this week to perform a structural evaluation on a residence. When I told the callers my price they hesitated, then asked if I could do it for less because it isn't that much and they just need a letter. I reiterated my price, each of them then told me they could get it from someone else for less. I reiterated my price and told them to let me know. I have not heard back from either of them.

O.k. That makes sense. I really don't do much with Facebook outside the realm of my friends so I didn't consider that aspect.

There are groups for that. I posted in a couple of bike sales groups. Marginally better than craigslist. Marginally.

Well, this is fun all over again. I checked out a Doris Day movie from the library and figured I could show it this afternoon and serve fresh popcorn. Now, I just got the movie yesterday so there wasn't much time to promote the idea. However, thus far none of the seniors stuck around to watch it, the ones who are here are playing a card game called "Hand and Foot" and, while this fluffy comedy is running on the big TV in the dining room, the paid staff is re-arranging the area for a funeral that's being held tomorrow.

And on the same tip: The director spoke with the state level Vista person and it was decided that we need to transfer all of our hours to the standard Vista time sheet. This has to be done as an Excel sheet for each two week period. I only have to go back to March 21st. One of my compatriots has to start his recreation with November of last year. ‪#‎hatemylife‬

Well, on facebook you get somewhat real names of people. So pretty sure this isn't Dan. Also, it's a local group.

On the up-side, Glenn from the kitchen just brought me two little packets of fudge that was made fresh yesterday. I wonder if I should share them with LoP?
