I don't upload my Zwift rides to Strava. Or my rides on the steel bike since the SRM doesn't talk Strava.

Good news. Cancer is not active.

Well oiled machine: paralyzed dog transferred to us at 3pm. Bloodwork, xrays, spinal CT and two site hemilaminectomy all by 6pm. (Obviously there was a degree of urgency with this one.)
His name is Scraps, love it. |

I don't really care about "elevation" on rides, but does anyone understand why elevation on a ride varies so much depending on the device used? For example on today's ride my iPhone App Strava gave 4349 feet, while another rider's Garmin gave him 5807, two others had 5653 and one had 4806. We did the same exact ride.
Any ideas? Should I start a thread? We have one straight grade that I've surveyed and verified the constructed grade to be 7.0%. I've ridden the hill in a group and asked people to report their grade. Two riders, side by side, can report numbers from 5-13%. These same riders will swear by their numbers on their Garmin even after I tell them it's a perfect straight 7%. I have another straight grade of 9% that I've surveyed and I can drag the cursor over the grade on Strava and watch the numbers wildly fluctuate. Now, for total elevation, my wife and I have Garmin 810s that I have set up exactly. They never, and I mean never, match. Tonight, she had 700' of climbing elevation and I had 400'. Monday, on the tandem, I had 554' and she had 449' on a 26 mile ride. Sometimes I have more and sometimes I have less. I gave up relying on elevation numbers from cycling GPS units. |

I still love them now. Seen a few steam locomotives in operation, including the Baldwin on the New Hope & Ivyland. I also took a ride out of Steamtown from Scranton to Moscow, PA during foliage season.
BTW...The author of that book died of a heart attack at age 48. |

Deep thought- Why do people insist on filling a coffee cup and then stirring in cream? If you just pour a bit of cream into a cup and them pour the coffee in on top, it mixes without requiring a little stirring stick or spoon.

Warning: bike-related content:
I ordered 2 Blackburn SS bottle cages off of Amazon (honest-to-goodness in an effort to match my bike- what are you people doing to me?) on Monday mid-afternoon with free two-day shipping. There's been a very friendly message on my order history that they've got the order...they just need a little longer to process it. An email will be sent with an estimated shipping timeframe. When I finally realized what this all reminded me of: I gave them until this evening. Nope, no change. Buh-bye! #FirstWorldProblemoftheDay |
