Warning: bike-related content:
I ordered 2 Blackburn SS bottle cages off of Amazon (honest-to-goodness in an effort to match my bike- what are you people doing to me?) on Monday mid-afternoon with free two-day shipping. There's been a very friendly message on my order history that they've got the order...they just need a little longer to process it. An email will be sent with an estimated shipping timeframe. When I finally realized what this all reminded me of: http://https://youtu.be/4T2GmGSNvaM?t=40 I gave them until this evening. Nope, no change. Buh-bye! #FirstWorldProblemoftheDay I did listen to a financial show that said the free shipping model we all enjoy is unsustainable so enjoy it while it's there. |

On a related note, I generally order a specific product direct from the manufacturer. Yesterday morning, the same product was $2 cheaper on Amazon and I have Prime so I ordered it about 8:30 AM and it arrived this morning about 9:30 via FedEx. You never know.

Amen, brother. They act like your time is not valuable. |

I really try not to buy bike stuff off of Amazon unless the order can be fulfilled by a reputable manufacturer or at least supplier like Competitive Cyclist, Western Bike Works, or something similar. But I was overly anxious to finish this project up, and the Arundel cages directly from that company were far too expensive. In an effort to compromise with myself, I still ended up losing. Oh well... indeed.
I need a specific tire for a small trike that I usually buy from Niagara Cycles who usually takes a week to 10 days. So, one day I was doing a search and the same tire popped up on Amazon so I bought it. I was so excited that I didn't pay attention where it was coming from until I got the email which clearly stated that the order didn't qualify for Prime and by the way, it's coming from Niagara Cycles in about 7-10'days. |

What do runners eat?
Now, here's what I want to know: do plantains grow on a plant similar to the banana plant? |
Unless you pay for Prime, Amazon ***** you big time with the shipping time. The way to force you into paying for Prime. I avoid them like the plague. Those of you that pay are enablers. Bad hombres.

We have one straight grade that I've surveyed and verified the constructed grade to be 7.0%. I've ridden the hill in a group and asked people to report their grade. Two riders, side by side, can report numbers from 5-13%.
Note to Strava followers: Due to program elevation flaws, all my climbs are twice as steep/long as the website reports. |

Frequently there will be 200+ bananas in a bunch. Plantains only go to maybe 60.

Yes. If I remember correctly, the bunch is smaller in number, and not upside down.
In exchange, would you enjoy a little music theory lesson? :D |
I finally decided to get my rear November Rail rebuilt. I sent them my hub, and my wheel is heading back home again. Mike and Dave are awesome.

No thanks

Well oiled machine: received a request at 1100 PST to design and deploy an algorithm that would assist in detering in****** ******** from ******** the ****** ****** from ******* ****, all put to bed by 1500 PST (obviously there was a degree of urgency with this one).
Sorry for the redactions; can't be helped--terms of my employment. Love it. And, I'm feeling pretty special and thought I'd share. PS: True story. And, I guess the moral of this little story is that we're all special in our own special ways. ;) |
