Yes. If there is no prostate, hypothetically the PSA should be zero. So if your PSA goes from 0 after surgery to something above zero, that suggests a recurrence. It happens sometimes.

Fun fact- the Norwegian fans in Richmond for the 2015 race were by far the most fun group of Euros to venture to our little city. It's prostate-specific antigens. Theoretically, my PSA should be 0 with no prostate. When my cancer came back in 2009, it was 1.1 which is considered low but not for a person without a prostate. My PSA has gone from 0.02 to 0.08 to 0.11 to 0.22 over the last two years. My urologist said we probably won't wait till 1.0 this time before starting treatments. I have an appointment with both my urologist and oncologist in May and will get more info and maybe a better timeline.
