HEELS!

:love::love::love:

I wondered about that last post. I too was a heels fan tonight. My sports streak continues.

I thought I would never stop playing frisbee. I haven't touched one in many years, and no longer have the ability to run after it.

I actually wondered if you had suddenly decided to post to Addiction about your new fancy shoes and was very confused.

How does one start a poll thread?

There is a place to choose to start a poll on the new thread screen. It's a bit confusing, but doable.

Sounds like a new thread to me but I'd make it a best poll ever thread question.

Pay to throw a frisbee around????

Beautiful day out so far, time to ride to work.

Isolated snow showers before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 37.

Somebody has to pay for those fancy concrete tees, baskets, signage, etc.

Some state and local parks have amenities (e.g., guarded lake for swimming, showers) and thus charge admission fees. I can think of a couple in New Jersey that do. If a park has camping, you pay for that but are not charged the regular admission fee on top of the camping fee.

Thanks. I see it now.

Planning one in the Touring forum.

Or just walk around.

Scarbo 04-04-17 07:44 AM

Wow. I can't wait for "them" to start requiring us all to register our bikes and charging us annual fees for the privilege. OK. You can shoot me now for even giving utterance to that abomination on a public forum. :D

The CX skills clinic I did last fall was held at a state park. There was an entry fee. No charge to ride your bike into the park, so I rode to the clinic. :)

Maintaining a disc golf course costs money. It takes a fair amount of land that's dedicated to that use, and that land has to be kept up.

I don't see a problem with making the users of a particular amenity pay to support the cost of that amenity.

People who play golf in public parks pay greens fees. No reason disc golfers shouldn't as well. Admittedly the cost of maintaining a disc golf course is much lower, but I'm betting the disc golf fees are also much lower.

My bet is most disc golfers are ok with greens fees, as long as those fees support having more disc golf courses.

Again, not a horrible idea if that money goes into providing bike friendly infrastructure.

Automobile users help pay a portion of highway costs through gas taxes. Not unreasonable for other road users such as cyclists to pay to build and maintain roads.

It would also have the advantage of solidifying our claim as cyclists to the right to use the roads.

I know many local roads are supported by property taxes, but that's not a use fee tied to the use of the roads in the manner that gas taxes are, and not all cyclists own real property.

Only problem with a road use fee for cyclist, would be ensuring the money actually got used for bicycle infrastructure.

That's a big "if."

I would agree except for the fact that I think it is just more likely that our infrastructure in this country is just going to continue to decline in the coming decades notwithstanding certain presidential pronouncements to the contrary.
