Anyone seen finish nails with a decent head? Roofing nails do, but they're just too damn big.

How about staples?

If wind is the concern you ought to use long wood screws.

Exactly.

Nails are fine. You just need the ones made for fencing. Preferably with ring shank design. And they must be stainless.

Another industry that blew by me. I was no longer a framer when these beastly contraptions appeared on the scene. I was a 28 oz hammer kind of guy. And we loved it!

Crazy people.

I do think Robert's Workswell would make a great race bike. Old mold, reviewed extensively, proven design.

The Amish guys that installed our roof used pneumatic nailers.

Driving to Wisconsin tomorrow to ride my bicycle in circles for a little while. No one in the team wanted to go so I'll be flying solo. RR course doesn't look too bad.

Crit doesn't look too bad either. We'll see.

I'm working with many yards of stockade fence coming loose. Screws are too much work and too slow, will take forever. Same with hammer n nails. Need a nail gun or staple gun. Know of no nail gun for fencing nails, leaning toward staple gun. Rust is a non factor because fence is uniformly stained.

Bulls will have a tough time without Rondo.

If you want to make any profit, that's how you have to do it these days. I'm just glad I was out of framing before their advent.

Hey stranger,
Stick with screws. For a fence that you intend to keep, screws hold better, allow you to pull and reinstall boards at your leisure, and come in colors that blend well. At my old house, i built a 6' high, 280' long fence out of full dimensional 1x6's, screwed every board by hand, and never regretted it. As the boards dried, I never had one pull loose, pop nails, or split.

Do it right, Bill. Good fences make good neighbors.

Yes, but they had eight amish women blowing on the end of the hose.

And since we are on the subject of pancake compressors, the IHOP in Vestal NY is actually quite good. All the others that i have been in sucked monkey butt, however this establishment gets naught but the highest accolades.

Galvanised. Cheaper, as effective.

Addiction delivers. Includes fence building/repair advice.

I agree, but I will never prove it. ;)

Nah. Only for a while.

I am a big fan of ring shank nails for flooring, and ringed tails for lemurs.

You're saying pro fence builders do it by hand. I dunno, but it seems unpossible.

So they have them for roofing nails but not fence nails. Now that is truly unpossible.
