Shrimp, fish, pork, chicken, and beef. Tofu sucks.

Crashing in a bike race and having substantial head injuries is frightening. BM has two kids, I think. Good guy.

LAJ 04-22-17 09:09 PM

That finish there is an accident waiting to happen. Always been sketchy.

f4rrest 04-22-17 09:20 PM

This is why I don't race.

LAJ 04-22-17 09:23 PM

A coworker blew out his Achilles doing some kind of martial arts thing.

That's why I don't do martial arts.

f4rrest 04-22-17 09:31 PM

What a coincidence. Me neither.

Great work, LAJ. I'll try and make it over tomorrow. Good luck.

Thank you, sbxx. I need to relearn how to race.

sbxx1985 04-22-17 09:40 PM

Weather looks good.

LAJ 04-23-17 06:18 AM

Weather looks 100% better than yesterday, that's for sure.

I had a taco salad at a Moe's restaurant last Friday and opted for tofu instead of meat. I've never tried the tofu there but it looked like it had been grilled and I thought I'd give it a try. I might as well have had them leave it out. Never tasted it.

This is why I retired from racing at age 40. Too many broken bones and my boss was beginning getting P.O'd every time I missed work.

I fall, I break something. :(

I'm one of the few who enjoy tofu right out of the package. Done right, it can't be beat for sandwiches. I'm currently using it as a dough conditioner for my bread--keeps it moister longer.

seedsbelize 04-23-17 07:01 AM

I tried one race, one time. Got dropped at the turn around because I didn't know about the acceleration ahead of time. I wouldn't mind trying it again, but I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to driving somewhere in order to ride a bike. I rode to and from that race.

How old was this guy? I think that speaks more to age. It seems that every time I hear of somebody messing up their Achilles tendon it is some guy over 40.

Frankly, I think a bunch of old mummies riding around in circles is a recipe for disaster. Neither the mental nor physical acuity are there, really (but self delusion is limitless, I understand). Cycling is the most demanding of sports and is not a forgiving mistress when things do go wrong.

WhyFi 04-23-17 08:02 AM

I was rather proud of myself for getting out at 7:00 for a 30-mile ride before a family Easter brunch (yeah, I know - we're slackers)... but when I got home, I realized that, in my still-groggy state, I'd ridden with my glasses under straps. Am I honor-bound to delete the Strava activity, or will changing the ride type to "Commute" suffice?

WhyFi 04-23-17 08:05 AM

Woo hoo! It's the last day of the riding week and I'm at the #1 spot!

...until another 8 people upload their Sunday rides. :(

I tore my Achilles playing basketball in my late twenties.

I like tofu OK, but a meat substitute, it ain't.

Under is correct.

Hope I didn't shatter your world. Lol

You must rename the ride "Fredly Loop".

Ouch.

On a side note, has anyone ever read this warning:

"Ciprofloxacin may cause swelling or tearing of a tendon (the fiber that connects bones to muscles in the body), especially in the Achilles' tendon of the heel. This can happen during treatment or up to several months after you stop taking ciprofloxacin. Tendon problems may be more likely to occur if you are over 60, if you take steroid medication, or if you have had a kidney, heart, or lung transplant."

This always made me think when taking Cipro for a UTI.

Some "rules" are meant to be broken.

rjones28 04-23-17 08:16 AM

Also, what's up with the Strava feed? When I look at riders I'm following, rides are no longer listed in chronological order with most recent activities first.

f4rrest 04-23-17 08:19 AM

I think the feed is sleeping in.

WhyFi 's ride doesn't show in the addiction feed... unless maybe he actually deleted it.

Exactly. Unnecessary addition.
