So, with an official gun time of 40:02, a supposed chip time of 40:02 (even though I definitely didn't cross the start line for several seconds), and a watch time of 39:56, did I run a sub-40 10k? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't like meat, so it's a non-issue for me. My 24th birthday is the last time I ate red meat. I had already made the move, but Mom wasn't buying it. She cooked steaks on the grill. I turn 65 in July.

I know it. I keep knocking on wood, too. I've been in quite a few crashes in bike races and even though I've gotten cut up pretty well I have never been seriously injured.

And, on top of it all, I have a love of riding fast motorcycles. I like to push the envelope there, too.

I've had more than my fair share of good luck, I admit. I keep knocking on wood.

I had a great ride this morning. First time in memory(years?) with no wind to speak of. What a treat!
And the pool has finally warmed up enough to peel off the clothes and walk into. That part adds greatly to tbe experience.

Seems a shame to leave here just as the weather is getting good.

I was lumping in the earlier comment made by the guy who had torn his Achilles, also while in his 20s; and to sort of preempt further nonsense along these lines. ;)

Whew. I thought I forgot how to understand the written word. Your validation is all I needed to continue my day as scheduled.

Strava says sub-40, so this isn't even a question. Strava is the final arbiter.

Yes. Kudos
My best time ever was sub 45. Long ago and far away

Sure.

My all-time 10k PR is around 35 minutes. Clocked when I was in high school. These days, I'm happy to finish under an hour.

That's fast.

My wife (runner) is always mad at her garmin time. What's up with that?

No, not at all. But, facts are facts. "Masters" is a euphemism for old, or older, idn't it? There is a very good reason that you don't see quinquagenarians racing in the Tour de France. ;)

Yes, Mt. Wilson, GMR, etc. As soon as my mummy self gets over some tendinitis, back up there.

You guys are too much! I can't wait to reach my 50th birthday so that I, too, can achieve that Inner Calm that comes with an inflated sense of my own abilities and potentialities.

Too much fun! Anyway, got riding to do now; gotta leave the geriatric ward for a little while. Do behave!

To what do you attribute this rare phenomenon?
