Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Going from anywhere to a Walmart is like being transported.

I can ban him from our club, but I'm not going to.

One of the bike shop's customers loves Looks. He has several. They all have Campy components.

There is a Walmart close that seems to be populated by relatively normal people.

Granted, I've only been in there to buy random camping supplies and Star Wars legos.

You're in one of the skinny states.

Look with Campy or Time with Campy is the only way.

I eye the closeout RXRS from R&A every few months. They are all still there. I almost bought one, but reviews about the front end stiffness were poor.

A red/black Time RXRS was my first bike crush when I got into road cycling 7 or 8 years ago, saw a frame in a shop and fell for it.

Never seen one on the road here, though. Also agree on the modern "integrated" Looks being fussy and unappealing.

So now that I've got wheels on order, I'm getting new rotors for them.

On my road bike I have a cassette for each set of wheels... but that ain't happening on the MTB. The SRAM 10-42 X01 cassette is like $320!!!

I could go get a GX level cassette for like $100, but that's worse than what I already have (which is OEM only and in between GX and X01). Even the cheap cassette is about twice what I'm willing to pay.

I am going to get the fancy floating rotors with the Ti bolts, though. They're not that much more expensive. Brakes get so much use on a MTB. They're like my fav thing on the bike, which is weird, for sure.

Sadly, we're out of snow. It's nearly 80 degrees American today.

But, I'm allowed to walk as much as I want.

Is that how they make up for the people that opt for only one chain ring and no FD?

Hey guys, I have a bike problem. Can y'all help me out?

On the MTB I use shimmy SPD cleats/pedals. The cleat on my right foot keeps getting rotated heel out. I line it up correctly, and tighten the bolts so tight there are freaking sparks, but after a few rides it's rotated out again, and now I'm getting some pain across the top of that due to this.

What do?

Must be. At those prices I'm almost in 12 speed land anyways (not sure I actually need a 50T rear cog, though).

When I first joined BF, there was a guy from Singapore that posted his RXR in Hot r Not. I was sold. I went to Pro Peloton and saw it firsthand and it was even hotter. The owner of the shop at the time rode one and thought it was the greatest bike ever. Pricey.

The RXRS module is about $3k at R&A. They haven't moved, so if you call them up, they will give you a deal. Buy one so I can live vicariously through you.

And I've probably drooled over those exact frames when they were in the window.

I'd love to have one for a month. And be able to give it back if I didn't like it. It's an expensive mistake.

When I bought the Timemachine, I ran into the former owner of Pro Peloton at Boulder Cycle Sport. Although he was riding a Dogma by then, he was highly critical of my decision to go with the Timemachine over the RXRS.
