I have at least half a dozen cycling t-shirts. Several USAC (membership swag), some from CX events, and (of course) shop Ts.

Hey Heathpack you'll appreciate this. My dad sent me this today, spotted during a walk. You said you sailed in Maine so you may know Hinckley yachts. We used to spend a month each summer at a place near Southwest Harbor in Maine, would go to the Hinckley yard and watch them finish and launch new boats.

Taken in stride. I can't make the autocorrect stop changing it. But my science is right.

FYI not riding a bike and posting in this thread are not mutually exclusive. Just ask RJones.

Hey...

I ranted a bit about this in another thread. This whole racer/non-racer distinction is such garbage. There is this whole "you think you're better than me?" knee jerk reaction from many people who have not raced. Actually, no. I don't. I just ride bikes and like going fast occasionally. Sorry that's offensive to some.

We're all on bikes, we all have different goals and motivations. Putting people in boxes is not productive and just breeds bitterness.

Pretty boat. It always seems fab to have an old classic wooden boat but they are a lot of work and OMG so narrow and excessively snug when you are belowdecks. Mr. H went to college at the University of Hawaii and while he was there he got in over is head with a 48' wooden Alden schooner that was basically perpetually sinking. He felt pretty lucky to unload the thing before he left for AOCS. Some sucker always falls for a classic good lookin wooden boat. ;)

Contrast with the fiberglass boat we had in Maine, which was also perpetually sinking. So f-in ugly but it was all we could afford at the time (lol it cost less than our current dinghy). Terrible boat, didn't sail for a damn, sometimes we'd just have to give up because we couldn't make headway against some gnarly current. 'Guess we're going the other way now.' Our outboard only worked about 50% of the time so we got good at sailing pretty much anywhere we wanted to go. Paper charts & a compass, we had zero electronics beyond a hand held radio. But we had a lot of fun on that turd of a boat. I have no pics but that's good because they'd make me cringe anyway. :)

I was talking to a guy the other day that said he loves his Seven. Later in the conversation, he said he was thinking about something like the Roubaix because the Seven is so stiff and beats him up. People are weird.

Tire pressure X area of the contact patch = the force (weight) the tire will support. Volume isn't in the formula at all. You adjust the pressure so that the contact patch required will be achieved at an appropriate (15% or so) tire drop relative to the unloaded bike. Obviously the wide tire has a big contact patch and doesn't need much pressure to support say 200 lb. I get that and 0.5 lb is a relatively large fraction of 15 lb. I get that too. I'm just saying it isn't about volume.

I see you're trying to be rpenmandantic, but P = nRT/V, so volume certainly is in the equation anytime pressure is mentioned. :P
