What is a Marathon bar?

It's braided caramel coated in chocolate. Takes a long time to chew/eat, hence the name.

I lost a tooth in a marathon bar in the 7th grade lunchroom, circa 1978.

RIP Marathon Bar 1973-1981.

Best use of scare quotes today.

I forgot about those and had to google. They were pretty good.

Good thing we didn't head out today. Guess there was a little trouble over by Evanston.

An unlikely choice for cycling food.

I did start cramping about mile 75 from rationing my water. Got a few snickers about my fanny pack but I won my age group. :thumb:

Marathon bar? Snickers? Too much candy.

I am thinking not. Prolly too much food, but I would rather have too much than too little.

Especially in the UK or Australia. Snicker.

I guess this must be your first century. My experience has always been that, at 50 I'm thinking this is going to be a snap. 30 miles later, not so much. Those last twenty require lots of water and some salt.

seedsbelize 04-28-17 07:12 PM

There is a very good chance that I will finish Addiction I tomorrow.

Nah, I have done a few. This will be the first one this year. But the other ones I have done have been fundraisers with stocked rest stops so I was not as concerned about packing food. There will be convenience store options but I am a cheapskate and would rather bring my own.

seedsbelize 04-28-17 07:16 PM

I found the big bag of brake parts, and it had three pairs of cantilevers in it, none of them with hangers. Now it has 5. I rode uptown to the LBS and got a complete set of V-brakes, for US$4. That project also should be done tomorrow.

I use a fanny pack for long, solo rides. I can practically carry the kitchen sink in there.

I do approve. datlas is one of the Addiction members that seems to know moderation, and wise eating.

Sugary energy bar. They were very new at that time, probably 13-15 years ago.

Different critter. I'm pretty sure the ones I'm talking about didn't exist. These were/are an energy bar or faux energy bar.
