Funny thing happened to me a few days ago. I got a minor scratch in my car, and, it actually did buff right out.
Amazing!

Riding a century or more split over the course of 2 days is a good way to train for one.

WhyFi 04-29-17 08:00 AM

I train for a century by riding a century split over 4 or 5 rides... and stretched out over the course of 2 or 3 weeks. Tha's okay, right?

seedsbelize 04-29-17 08:00 AM

I like to think I'm done riding centuries. I did 90 this past winter, and gave going the extra ten just a passing thought.

So already planning for my next bike. Looking for a bike that has a road race feel that can do gravel, as there are plans to create gravel path from Maine to Georgia.

I was thinking BMC Roadmachine 02 perfect as you can fit 28mm tires w/ fenders. But I took my R5 wannabe with 25mm tires, 80 PSI front, 90 in the back through some trails and gravel, felt good. Now I'm thinking a R3 disc might be in the future.

Well got a year to think it over. Saw and road a Roadmachine 02, it's so pretty! The O2 model has eyelets to fit fenders! I'm thinking perfect bike, but thinking R3 with 28mm disc might feel better. Hmmm.

Me neither.

Speaking of organized rides: last night I was getting my stuff together for my test ride today (after the wheel/tire swap and cleaning/adjustments yesterday) and I picked up my riding gloves, which had fallen on the ground. Strangely, they were still damp from the previous ride... wait - wasn't my last ride like 5 days ago? And what's that horrible smell?

Yup. That pisser of a boy cat strikes again. Any plastic bags or fabric on the ground are fair game, and stuff that's got the scent of another person/animal are particularly attractive targets. That bastard.

A year of handwringing. Good planning.

I have a Timemachine and a R3SL. Both great bikes. Sounds like you have two great options.

Yeah, but why not do a century while training for a century?

If I was in good enough shape to do one, there'd be no need to train.

Velo Vol 04-29-17 08:11 AM

I eat and drink so much during the annual century I do that I'd need a backpack of supplies, not a fanny pack.

I did the Buff Classic when I got back on the bike, and I'm glad I did. I can't imagine doing it again.

LAJ 04-29-17 08:15 AM

As much as I like beasties, cats aren't on my to do list. I'll let cat people have them.

My wife and her friends used to do the Buff Classic every year. They couldn't convince me to go, mainly because it's always on the same Sunday. First Bears game of the season and they play at 11:00 a.m.

Absolutely. I gave it a go with Dusty and that's good for me.

It's time to play a prank on the cat.

Next time, leave your gloves on the floor with a surprise. I'm sure you can come up with something.

Maybe a rubber band with a hair trigger.

My experience cats don't learn. Tried tricks, tossing the cat, yelling at it, etc, all it does is retaliate.

Me neither, can't think of a more boring way to spend your time.

+1. We had one cat (out of many strays we took in) I liked when I was a yute. He behaved pretty much like a dog... other than pooping in my sandbox.

sbxx1985 04-29-17 08:34 AM

First 20 people get a goody bag.

Trsnrtr 04-29-17 08:35 AM

My wife asked me to take the laundry basket downstairs and I told her that I was too weak from dieting.

She said, "When did you start dieting?"

I said, "About an hour and a half ago. Do we have any food in the house?"

I have the perfect solution. I am on my third pair of replacement Giro gloves. The first pair made it 6 weeks and the second, 4. After this next pair blows out, I will be set for a long time. I suggested they save us both the trouble and just send me a new pair every two months for life.

In my experience, if you can do 50 without a second thought, you can do 100 with a little preparation.

Trsnrtr 04-29-17 09:23 AM

Haven't worn cycling gloves since I retired from racing in '92.

Except in winter, of course. :innocent:
