Amazing! :D |
Riding a century or more split over the course of 2 days is a good way to train for one.
|
I train for a century by riding a century split over 4 or 5 rides... and stretched out over the course of 2 or 3 weeks. Tha's okay, right?
|
I like to think I'm done riding centuries. I did 90 this past winter, and gave going the extra ten just a passing thought.

So already planning for my next bike. Looking for a bike that has a road race feel that can do gravel, as there are plans to create gravel path from Maine to Georgia.
I was thinking BMC Roadmachine 02 perfect as you can fit 28mm tires w/ fenders. But I took my R5 wannabe with 25mm tires, 80 PSI front, 90 in the back through some trails and gravel, felt good. Now I'm thinking a R3 disc might be in the future. Well got a year to think it over. Saw and road a Roadmachine 02, it's so pretty! The O2 model has eyelets to fit fenders! I'm thinking perfect bike, but thinking R3 with 28mm disc might feel better. Hmmm. |

I've never done a supported century.

Speaking of organized rides: last night I was getting my stuff together for my test ride today (after the wheel/tire swap and cleaning/adjustments yesterday) and I picked up my riding gloves, which had fallen on the ground. Strangely, they were still damp from the previous ride... wait - wasn't my last ride like 5 days ago? And what's that horrible smell?
Yup. That pisser of a boy cat strikes again. Any plastic bags or fabric on the ground are fair game, and stuff that's got the scent of another person/animal are particularly attractive targets. That bastard. |

I have a Timemachine and a R3SL. Both great bikes. Sounds like you have two great options. |

Yeah, but why not do a century while training for a century?
|
I eat and drink so much during the annual century I do that I'd need a backpack of supplies, not a fanny pack.

I did the Buff Classic when I got back on the bike, and I'm glad I did. I can't imagine doing it again.
|
As much as I like beasties, cats aren't on my to do list. I'll let cat people have them.

That bastard. Next time, leave your gloves on the floor with a surprise. I'm sure you can come up with something. Maybe a rubber band with a hair trigger. |
"You are invited to the following event:

First 20 people get a goody bag.

My wife asked me to take the laundry basket downstairs and I told her that I was too weak from dieting.
She said, "When did you start dieting?" I said, "About an hour and a half ago. Do we have any food in the house?" #notamused |

Haven't worn cycling gloves since I retired from racing in '92.
Except in winter, of course. :innocent: |
