I am willing to bet the marathon bar of my youth tastes better than you marathon energy bar.

I've never done an unsupported miles century ride.

A. My race was a 100 mile unsupported TT. Thus the fanny pack. I was in the 50-55 class. My time was like 5h 6m, just under 20 mph.

B. Educating the unwashed masses - this is a Marathon Bar:

What's really ridiculous is those runners who wear a belt/fanny pack during events where they have a water station every several minutes.

Guy #2 gets a face full of spokes on the landing. Ouch.

My new MTB wheels are NOT getting bladed spokes, btw.

Y'all like bird pics, so here's a potato quality road runner that was waiting for me at the trailhead when I finished tonight (low light iphone pic zoomed in all the way... a recipe for success):

I used to ride with a guy that did his first century on a BMX bike. At age 12.

I have one set of bladed spoke MTB wheels. I hope I don't snap that fork!

Nope, but someone in my neighborhood saw a coyote taking a dump in my front yard and posted it on facebook. Same neighborhood. So... it could actually happen.

I've done 74 miles with little, if any food.

I did drink several bottles of water.

LesterOfPuppets 04-28-17 09:36 PM

Dang, dream jerseys show up on the eBay, but they're Size L/XL. Maybe I could eat and drink my way into fitting them???

If you ate, you could have made it a full 100.

It was a training ride for a century, not a century ride.

Yeah, but why not do a century while training for a century?

A Coke and a Pearson's Nut Roll (I've decided this is the perfect gas station pick-up on a long ride) and he could have done a metric double.

Funny you should ask. I learned the hard way (arguing on BF) that many folks think that is the way to do it. Some even recommend riding more than a century to train for a century. Something about being strong on the event day. Go figure.
