What's sad is having the damn things handy and being too forgetful and/or lazy to just go get them and put them on. The when the first grease gets under you fingernails, you realize it is too late. Not that I do that. Just saying that some people might.

I dunno that you should be throwing down the gauntlet in this context. NTTAWWT.

In one case, it becomes "it is worth" but I always thought that the "its" was possessive in this case. My iPad speel chequer thinks the former.

Never mind, my language arts teacher wife informs me "it's" is correct and I'm an idiot.

Excellent question and very subtle. A friend and I actually collect those. Like "to the manor born" or "to the manner born". Another good example is "the artist formerly known as Prince" or "The Artist, formerly known as Prince".

In your case I am sure it is "it's" = it is. Actually the meanings aren't that much different, but I have never seen it without the ' until just now.

I don't wear gloves to work on things.

rjones28 05-10-17 07:11 AM

Time to go work on things.

Yes, I go to Harbor Freight to buy them. Very cheap and worth every penny.

Don't forget to put on your gloves.

seedsbelize 05-10-17 07:15 AM

I don't consider wearing gloves to work on things. I dislike wearing gloves, except to keep my hands warm.

The vinyl ones from the drug store work okay and are cheap, but they don't really hold up well. I might go through a couple or three pair on a long job. The "nitrile" type (often purple) that the dentists are using now because of their better protection against disease are much tougher. That is the way to go. I'm sure Amazon has them.

Sort of like, "Hell bent for leather" and "Hell bent for election."

seedsbelize 05-10-17 07:16 AM

I also have to go work on things today. I will not be wearing gloves.

Well let me assure you that when you wear gloves to work on things, your hands do stay very, very warm.

By the way, have you heard about the tailor had five of the appendages that you are only supposed to have one of. Yep, his pants fit like a glove.

Harbor Freight has black ones that hold up well. I use the black 9 mil nitrite gloves.

My HFs are inconveniently located, so I picked them up at Target. A few more pennies, but still worth all the pennies. Speaking of pinching pennies, how many gloves do you think magically migrate from datlas's office to his shop? :innocent:

indyfabz 05-10-17 07:17 AM

Inconsiderate and aggressive bike commuters piss me off. There are enough problems out there without you adding more.

End of rant.

And "Don't go off half-crocked."

Dan333SP 05-10-17 07:18 AM

The only time I wear gloves is if I'm disassembling the drivetrain (pulling a cassette for cleaning, changing jockey wheels, replacing a chainring, etc). For normal stuff like changing cables or replacing a tube, no need.

seedsbelize 05-10-17 07:21 AM

Or, "That guy gets bent when he rides his bent". He hit a curb and bent his bent. Where is Scarbo? This is his kind of discussion.

seedsbelize 05-10-17 07:21 AM

I wonder if he has notifications turned off.

Gloves? Just gloves? Seriously?

Dan333SP 05-10-17 07:26 AM

With the big political news from yesterday, I checked into P&R to see if the dumpster fire was alive and well. Can confirm- lots of new trash going up in flames.

They are "nitrile" not "nitrite". I only mention it because you can smell the residual acrylonitrile monomer in the rubber. It is very carcinogenic.:eek::eek:

I have it on good authority the residual monomer levels are way below any toxicity/carcinogenicity threshold, but damn that odor gives me the creeps. Especially when the dental hygienist sticks her hand in my mouth and the smell is right there inside of me. I used to work in am acrylonitrile manufacturing plant so I am really wary of **** like that.

Or is it "weary". After a few years on BF, I have trouble remembering. ;)

I was glad to realize it was a glove. On first glance it resembled something else designed for just 1 appendage.

A security sign "on camera" can reduce the amount of latex left behind from dog walkers and others.
