Does the prostate cancer treatment outlook presented to you comport with your understanding of the current state of the art? Would there be any value to consulting a top cancer center for a second opinion, not about the status of the condition, but about the best path forward?

On the evening ride a little bird flew across the road right in front of me just as a car was passing. The car hit the bird!

I moved the poor creature from the roadway in case it was merely knocked out (rather than dead) but it didn't look too hopeful. :(

Good job. Gotta try.

Happened to me when I was doing 80-85 across New Mexico in one of the foulest of moods of my life after masters' nationals in Phoenix. Bird flew in front of the mostly-vertical windshield, got hit, fell like a stone quite a few seconds later, straight down in my rearview. I did feel bad, but at least the thing must have died instantly from the impact.

My lazy breakfast is Life cereal with blueberries all over the top of it. My prepared breakfast is Life cereal with blueberries and sliced banana all over the top of it. Race day is some sort of muffin.

How many of these items will YOU have for breakfast this morning?

I had a couple of sausage egg and cheese on bagels.

As I was riding towards it, a duck took off from the other side of the road and got collected by the windscreen of the vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. There was an almighty thud, duck dropped to roadside dead, car kept going with windscreen intact, so did I.

Velo Vol 05-17-17 09:49 PM

Pretty surprising when you think about it how few dead birds a person sees, given their vast population.

Rowan 05-17-17 09:52 PM

I probably see one dead bird per ride. Dead animals are entirely another matter...

???

A lot of them?

Rowan 05-17-17 11:37 PM

Yes, a lot. In varying degrees of decay. On the road, on the side of the road, in the ditch. Mostly possums and wallabies. There might be the occasional wombat, rabbit, and Tasmanian devil :( It seems to be a sport here -- hit the defenceless animal and kill it. Mostly happens at night. The smell can be horrendous sometimes. One stretch of road I rode about 14 years ago had a dead animal every 50 yards or so... for 10 miles.

The Australian equivalent of the SPCA is big on cruelty to domestic animals, but this sort of issue seems to give them the slip.

Phishing conmen really should check their stuff before they set to work.

I got an email from PayPall today saying my account was being restricted until I contacted them. Yeah... hilarious. And really unprofessional.

Uh-oh... also got an email from Microsoft with the subject line as "Félicitation"... and the email was entirely in French. Even more hilarious.

Here, the most common dead animal is the grey squirrel, typically squashed by an encounter with a car. Usually see at least one per ride. Sometimes an occasional deer on the side of the road.

Hey Indy, how was your date??

rpenmanparker 05-18-17 05:17 AM

:bday:

Yes it is! Let's just say that I am still not 70. What should I have for breakfast?

More than I can say for us. Wait. That didn't sound the way I intended.

It depends what the argument is over.

I believe the top ten list was just posted yesterday. Please try to keep up, old man.

Now, I'm at the hospital waiting on my wife to be released after having a liver biopsy.

Been a long day.

Damn. Very sorry to hear this. :(

The take home:
1. Its light at 5:30am now!
2. Beautiful morning here too. A little crisp though, in the 40Fs.
3. Riding with the disc this week just to fully test everything, I really like the way the wheel rolls. It feels like it carries a lot of momentum and you're just constantly topping off speed. Pedaling is funner with the disc.
4. Feeling mighty on the bike right now.
