Went to my Tues-Thurs old man retired racer ride. On the way, I stopped at the coffee shop to deliver a child bike to a person who bought it. I have a van with a lift gate and got the bike out and gave it to him. OK, so far.
Got to ride, pumped tires, etc. and realized that I had forgot my Garmin. No problemo, I'll use my phone. Oops! No phone but I had just had it at the coffee shop so I drive back to the coffee shop and it isn't there either. That's when I remember laying it on the bumper when getting the kid bike out.
No problemo. I call up Find my iPhone on my iPad and Ping! - there it is about a half mile away in the middle of the street. I rush down there to get it but I'm too late, the phone is smashed. Too many cars have run over it.
Go back to the ride and start up my Garmin watch which has a biking app, GPS, HR, etc. About 15 miles in, my watch buzzes - battery death is imminent and 5 miles later, it does.
So, after the ride, I ask if anyone has the distance and average speed. Geez, you would have thought that I'd asked someone to work an equation using LaPlace transforms or something. I get 4-5 different mileages and a likewise 4-5 average speeds and a discussion ensues about who is right. I take a quick average of the replies and hop in the car and drive to the phone store. There are probably 4-5 retired engineering nerds still arguing in the parking lot.

Little bit of dough coming through on car-injury suite, I don't want to feed the dragon too soon but gonna have my eyes open for any carbon 58cm endurance demo bike offerings in that same price range as the mtn bike. What I should do is stay away from Mike for as long as possible... LOL.

Got a call from the LBS. SRAM sending new brakes out for me already, and Salsa has been contacted about the frame crack (with pics, sn, etc...) but obviously no response from them yet. I'd much rather they just replace the carbon seat stay rather than the whole frame, as I really like my current color scheme. Also, all of the AL bushings/nuts are anodized orange to match that scheme, and will look terrible on an army green frame.

The good thing about Quarq is that they are really good about warranty and IME even out of warranty service / replacement. The bad news is I learned that 4 different times before tiring of that process.

I'm quite OK with my Quarq's. My P/T died, and of course their customer service was also splendid. To the tune of $350.00.

It isn't monocoque? What makes you think there are spearate parts like that? Or that one can even be removed and replace once epoxied in?

Also, I get an internet point because I just caught @rpen saying "spearate".

I synced my Garmin watch to my new phone and amazingly it kept recording after the screen shut down and it uploaded to Strava via Garmin Connect.
What is also amazing is I got a slightly different mileage and average than the other nerds.

Most cat owners have enough sense to carry their cat into the vets office. Again, human carelessness.
Whenever I was visiting the vet with Moose I made arrangements to enter the back door, knowing there was too much of a risk there might be a loose pet in the waiting room. Moose didn't like anything on four legs.
On the other hand, once I was sitting in a waiting room (not with Moose) and saw a Lab go bat **** crazy when a lady entered with a cat. He had to be escorted out, the beast. Point is, stereotyping is always fail.

Edit: After reading that it was a resident cat, still a bad idea - I've been in vet offices that had resident dogs confined to behind the counter/ desk, but never any loose resident animals out in the main waiting area.

No doubt. But you are getting very close to the secret of my happiness. Blissful ignorance of unpleasant facts.
