Getting back to the main Addiction topic (food), I went out for pizza with the guys last night. Since the family wasn't in tow, I was able to deviate from the usual sausage and/or pepperoni pizza. I went wild. I went crazy. I went with sausage, sauerkraut and banana peppers, a pizza known as The Hammer. Yeah, I droped The Hammer and finished it in one sitting.

I feel left out with all the camera talk. Guess I should let you know I get to play with a high-speed camera (nac MEMRECAM HX-7) and a Sigma 180mm macro lens on a regular basis. Not sure if they are fancy but they sure were expensive!

Good lord! I go running and you guys post up three pages. Where's all this activity when I'm bored in the evening?

So how does Zeiss adapt to both Canon and Sony? Can you convert the same lenses you are using with your Canon bodies to the Sony FF? Do I understand you have been using the Zeiss as MF on the Canon but could use it AF on the Sony? Forgive my density. I had just been letting your Zeiss talk go past me until you mentioned the new Sony lenses.

The only thing they forgot was the pineapple. Blech!

Forgot to mention, birthday cake will be carrot including pineapple and coconut. Substituting hazelnuts for the pecans or walnuts that I can't have. I could eat a cup of cream cheese frosting with a spoon and be happy.

EDIT: All you eagles will notice that I put down pineapple in the pizza post but will include it in my cake. Everything has its place.

The Zeiss that I'm using now is from their Contax line of SLRs. Because of flange differences, a simple adapter can be used to convert from the lens C/Y mount to the Canon body EOS mount -

This provides mechanical coupling between the two and gets the register distance right for proper focusing on the Canon body. Focus and aperture controls are still done the old fashioned way, of course.

As far as the Sony, because the a7 line is morrorless and the mount is relatively close to the sensor (doesn't have to allow for mirror swing/striking the rear lens elements) it affords a huge amount of adaptability. I'd just have to buy new adapters after getting the Sony body and I'd be in business.

Not something that I'd have regularly, but nice to get off the beaten track once in a while.

As far as other toppings go, that place really likes to pile them on. One of my friends gave me some of his leftovers "garbage" pizza to bring home (why he ordered a large, I don't know) - the 10" sq box definitely weighs more than 3 lbs.

When we were teens, the "garbage" pizza was called the "kitchen sink". It had everything but...

Occasionally there's an opossum, snake, or something else.

My understanding, though, is that the AF "Zeiss" lenses for Sony are more normal and lack the Zeiss magic. I could be wrong, though - I haven't exactly paid a ton of attention to Sony gear.

By the way, one thing I do love about discussing photo stuff on this site is no one gets crappy about other people's choice of brand.

Construction of two new engineering buildings will begin soon on campus. These buildings will take the place currently used as the main parking lot. Needless to say, parking will become a nightmare soon, they've raised the prices massively and everything and they are basically trying to convince everyone to not drive to campus. Well my advisor, who is super old (like, in his sixties or something :innocent:) decided to get himself an e-bike for his commute. Guess who droped me thing morning. :cry:
