My understanding, though, is that the AF "Zeiss" lenses for Sony are more normal and lack the Zeiss magic. I could be wrong, though - I haven't exactly paid a ton of attention to Sony gear.

By the way, one thing I do love about discussing photo stuff on this site is no one gets crappy about other people's choice of brand.

The Zeiss that I'm using now is from their Contax line of SLRs. Because of flange differences, a simple adapter can be used to convert from the lens C/Y mount to the Canon body EOS mount -
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....qL._SY355_.jpg This provides mechanical coupling between the two and gets the register distance right for proper focusing on the Canon body. Focus and aperture controls are still done the old fashioned way, of course. As far as the Sony, because the a7 line is morrorless and the mount is relatively close to the sensor (doesn't have to allow for mirror swing/striking the rear lens elements) it affords a huge amount of adaptability. I'd just have to buy new adapters after getting the Sony body and I'd be in business. |

I rode my steel bike this morning. I think I prefer the fit on that one over that on my Trek. Putting them side by side I can see the reach is a bit longer and there is also a fair amount of extra drop. Most of it is due to the classic-styled bars. I hope I can set up my new bike similarly to the steel one. Checking the specs, the new one has even shorter reach than the Trek, but also lower stack fortunately. I think I might have to go for one of those super pro-looking ultra-long stems.

He has not, and the very last scene of "Split" totally cheapens the film. Corny would be an understatement. While not gory, the device he uses is something you would expect to see in the third installment of a slasher flick meant to set up installment number four.

I moved the poor creature from the roadway in case it was merely knocked out (rather than dead) but it didn't look too hopeful. :( https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...3e94f127ec.jpg |

Speaking of colours, I'm afraid the SID is a little too orange for the tandem :( Might do it anyways...

Went with POC air knee pads for my mountain bike falls, they're beautiful. Impressed for once.

Really? I figured out The Sixth Sense at the dinner scene
So did I, but I figured I couldn't be right because that would made it too easy. Re: Unbreakable, the people I know who really like it are deep into the comic book/super hero thing. Must be like with Kevin Smith's "Dogma." The combination of him and the cast convinced me to see it the day it was released. I was, like, wut? But many people I know who were raised Catholic thought it was great. |
In other news, kitty has not been himself the last few weeks. He was scheduled for his monthly lymphoma checkup this morning. Initial blood work revealed his red cell count has dropped from 34 last month to 24, leaving him anemic after he had been going in the opposite direction for months. He's having an ultrasound this afternoon. Have to wonder if this is the beginning (or middle) of the end.

I have this little paralyzed dog that I did surgery on Monday afternoon. Someone else had done spinal surgery unsuccessfully and now the dog was totally paralyzed in her hind legs with no feeling in her toes. It was a difficult surgery and I had no better luck than the first surgeon so I resorted to a salvage procedure that usually works but given the severity of this dog's symptoms, I was not very optimistic. Then kind of a rough time post-op, several not-insurmountable things have gone wrong and the dog refusing to eat. We all start to wonder if its worth going through all this for the dog, since the odds for recovery were looking so slim. But it was the wife's dog and she died last year, the guy wants to do everything for her within reason.
Yesterday he wondered about euthanasia and I told him that wouldn't be wrong. But two spinal surgeries in two weeks, my opinion is, after all that, we should give her a reasonable amount of time to recover. So today she is moving her hind legs again and ate her breakfast. Home by the weekend. :) |
