Well that was a long day.

Hotel gym to start the day, then lectures, a luncheon, more lectures, a business meeting with an open bar, a cocktail reception with an open bar, and out to dinner with some friends (there was a bar).

Learned some cool stuff. At one point, I (silently, to myself) made the connection between increased lifespan in starved beer yeast and cycling. Lol.

Quote of the day:
Me, to a former resident- Hey, you look great, did you lose weight?!
Her- Nope. Boob job.

Lol.

Catalina sounds awful.

Now that's impressive!

Is that a shop employee?
Sounds like a great shop.

She should do the limb amputation if the diagnosis is certain (as in a biopsy has been done). CSA of low histologic grade can do really well with surgery alone.

Thanks for the consult. That's what I told her. I only hope that her detour into quackery is brief so the delay does not allow the cancer to spread.

Nice Pics!

Most of the guys at the bike shop also ride motorcycles.

I would not think that cyclist and motorcycle riders have a lot in common except for the noise and the lack of exercise.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but am I the only one who is waiting for the "Meilenstein" thread to fall off page one?

On a more modest note, I have reserved one of these for my upcoming trip to Spain

Wow, who would have thought those were cheap to rent? ;)

Seriously, that should serve you well. Much better idea than carrying one of your own.

Price is 30 Euros/day, so $35/day, which is reasonable IMO. Road cycling in Spain? Priceless.

That's a great price. Half of what I paid for a lesser bike in San Diego.

I never doubted it for a minute. :)

I hope you realize you have just incited some of us to go post there. Or maybe that was your plan all along. Verrry interesting.

The shop owner. The shop sponsors a neutral race support program. Two cars, two motos, and a half dozen USAC-licensed race mechanics. They work road races, crits, cyclocross, gravel, triathlons, and provide mechanical support for charity rides and clinics.

rjones28 06-08-17 06:56 AM

We also have a fleet of bikes (road and CX) and a ton of wheels.

rjones28 06-08-17 06:57 AM

I do some admin for the program.

That's just a wee bit better than the $700/week for the bike rental in exurban VA (which I obviously passed on).

You could practically buy a gently used road bike for that much.

This is what we have but rechargeable batteries so they don't hold for even an entire day's use before going finicky. Everyone was having problems including myself, so I brought a wired mouse in, no issues, everyone else trying to fight with management to buy them a replacement. Good luck!

Yes! This was / is the issue with them for sure. Don't think there's an option to use disposables though.
